Observations post game on the field
After the game, I got to go onto the field with a group of season ticket holders. It was fun to take a bunch of pictures but also mingle with some pretty cool fans. Some were making angels on the field, some were laying on the Norseman logo and others were playing football. We were like kids at Christmas. It was fun to walk the field and get a sense of how much give the field turf has. It's a lot different than the Metrodome, where the turf was like that artificial grass/turf/carpet that you could buy at Home Depot slapped over concrete. And it certainly wasn't like the rock hard ground at the old Met Stadium. It has such bounce to it. And when you see a player slide and it looks like black dust, up close and personal, I got to see what those actual fibers look like. We talked about the hopes for the playoffs and shared stories about our fandom. Of course there were observations of the game just played and check-ins on other game scores. I watched multiple generations of fans taking it all in and it was a whole lot of fun. One of my favorites was a charming older gentleman all decked out in a purple suit sharing his memories. He was funny and had a crowd gathered around him. It was such a moment of pure, unadulterated joy.

Great photos. I'm in South Florida and have yet to see a game at the new stadium. But it is definitely on my to do list, with my son.
Nice VG!!
Great way to end the year, beating the Bears, notching a bye, 13 wins and a spot in Divisional Round...Pretty damn nice.
This dude said he got offered $150 for his Ponder jersey. Someone wanted a Keenum jersey economy style.

Thanks for posting this VG! So cool. I saw this on the rewards site and debated spending some points to enter. I had the chance to check out the field last year when we held the large flags on the field at halftime. We had to show up early to 'practice' and had the chance to wander around then. It was such a cool experience and imagine this was the same.
Thank you for sharing

He was yelling "SKOL!!! SKOL!!! SKOL!!!" as we were walking out after the game. Warmed my heart... You won't regret it.

Oh it's definitely going to happen. Once the 2018 schedule comes out we'll plan it.I had promised him we would go to the SB if the Vikings made it in the 2009 season. The game was in Miami that year. But we know how that turned out. But we want to see the Vikings in their new stadium. This year / next season.

One of the most satisfying things I heard last weekend was that the son of a girl I know--and up until now, a BIG Bronco fan--asked Santa for a Vikings jersey. I was like WHAT???!!! I thought it might be hard to keep my kids Viking fans in a city that is Bronco nuts ("Daddy, NOBODY at our school is a Viking fan"). Never in a million years did I think they would convert their friends! My work is done. The hook is set. I just hope they don't hate me for it. *L*
The game looks so different when you are on the field. If you ever get the chance, go to the 40 and look at the goal posts. You will suddenly realize how small those posts look when you are called on to kick a 57 yard game winner.
Great post and pics, VG. What a fun experience, and it couldn't have happend to a better deserving fan. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing, VG. Great pics. Looks/sounds like a blast.
