I know this was discussed, but I was a bit preoccupied at the time. That said, by way of informal poll...
Who played "Duck, duck, gray duck!"
And who played "Duck, duck, Goose!"
?
Personally, as a childhood Californian, I played "Duck, duck, goose!" I'm so acclimated to goose, that it's to the point that Gray Duck even looks unnatural for me to read!
That said, I have a work friend from ND (in MN now) that played the Gray duck variant.

I was born in Mn. & lived up north most my childhood between Mn. & Ohio. It was always Duck. Duck, Goose for me. Gray Duck just sounds "wrong". LOL
Its always been duck, duck, gray duck for me. Born and raised amd lived in Minnesota my whole life.

I can barely remember but i want to say in east central SD in the late 70s early 80s it was duck. Can't say for sure but duck sounds right.
@"Purplewhizz" said:Eh... I might have to see a birth certificate. Polka dot duck sounds awfully fucking Quebec.@"JimmyinSD" said: Gray or Grey? :p I’m from America. Gray.
When I was a boy in Minnesota. We always said duck...duck...gray duck. Never heard it called "Goose".
When I was a kid... it was Duck, Duck, Gray Duck. Born and raised in Minnesota. It's the same thing with a water fountain, drinking fountain, or whatever you want to call something that shoots water out for people to drink. In Wisconsin, it's called a "bubbler"... WTF??? A BUBBLER??? I don't see any bubbles coming out of it...
@"StickyBun" said: Nobody outside of Minnesota calls it Gray Duck.
Cuz that's what it was originally called in Sweden... where it was invented. Everyone outside of Minnesota and Sweden are wrong. The Swedish title is “Anka Anka, Gråttanka.”
