Josh Rosen Says He'd Rather Be Lower Pick on 'Right Team' Than Higher Pick

UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen doesn't seem as interested in being the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft as he does in being part of a team that will make the best use of his talents.
"I'd rather be a lower pick at the right team than a higher at the wrong team," Rosen said on Tuesday, per ESPN's Josh Weinfuss.
Rosen's comments come two days after ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the Bruins star "would be hesitant" to declare for the upcoming draft if he knew the Cleveland Browns were going to select him with the top pick.
Ross Tucker of NBC Sports Network noted there is "no value" in Rosen saying he'd prefer to be drafted lower instead of higher unless he is "going to go all in and refuse to play for a team."

You seem to be glossing over the uncoachable and teammates don't like him part. Anyway, hold on, I have Jeff George, Ryan Leaf and Jay Cutler on the phone...

Good article on Rosen. Is the arrogance more Aaron Rodgers than Jay Cutler? And are NFL personnel folks worried that a Kaepernick-like activist won't fit well in the good-ol-boy, do-as-yer-told NFL? This is going to get real interesting....

Great read...

Yes, very interesting how a "free thinker" like this is going to show-up in the metrics that matter of an NFL franchise.

Frankly, I find him refreshing and I like his transparency.

Probably has all the ability in the world to handle an NFL playbook, big question is leadership at the next level...

As a person, I LOVE the kid. Obviously, I agree with his politics and activism, as I do Kap's. But as a QB, he scares me. Because it's not about what I think of him. It's about what his teammates, coaches, media and community think of him. I may want my country's leaders to be progressive, but I want my team's QB to be apolitical.

We just need more information. And context. But as the weeks go by, this is going to get analyzed and over-analyzed until we're ready to puke. And our opinions on him will evolve. But it always ends as a simple calculation of risk v. reward.

Hell, I still remember raising red flags on Marcus Peters early on. By the time the draft rolled around, he was the guy I wanted more than any other.

its going to have to be a cultural fit too...A kid like this might fit in well with the Seahawks or even with a progressive ownership like the Vikings have in the Wilfs.

But yah, lots of stuff going to get written, over-analysis, subterfuge etc.

So ready for playoffs and not draft. Its about to get very exciting here the next 2 weeks.
