It's such a tough choice because this defense is special. I love Linval because he is just such a beast. Sometimes two guys try to take him. He has the size and speed. And everything starts with him. Xavier is phenomenal on covering the best receivers. Griffen can be a game changer. Smith is doing a lot of the underneath, quiet stuff as opposed to the splashy players. Of course Kendricks has an incredible motor. Good God, this defense is awesome. I love these guys.

How can it not be Barr?  He pretty much won the division for the Vikings.

X  and Griff... Middle line has been gashed a few times this year for some big runs, but overall a great unit.

It's Linval and it's not even a discussion.  People want to talk about X taking away a guy by himself....well LJ has faced double and triple teams all season.  He is the key to this defense's success this season IMO.  His demanding so much attention up front let's allows more defenders to make plays on the back end.

Great question, great discussion.

I"m going to go with Rhodes.  I love linemen and think they generally don't get enough love.  But Rhodes friggin' ERASES other WRs.  It's a very, very rare talent.

Frazier - for doing such a poor job, it led to hiring Zimmer instead of an offensive guru type.

Every level of our D has a guy or two that could very easily have a case made for him to be our defensive MVP.  I don't think I could pick one and feel 100% confident I picked the right guy.  The guys listed - Linval is a one man wrecking crew.  Griff brings the energy.  Kendricks is the general. Rhodes are definitely closed  Harry is the overlord that doubles as a Swiss army knife.

I know it's not allowed but I'm giving it to Zimmer.   I don't know how long an extension he signed, but if this defense is his vision, I want him here for a LONG time

That is one TOUGH choice, and I'll go with Linval Joseph because he's routinely taking on 2 guys, still jamming up the play, and then making chasedown plays no guy that big should be making.

And if they single-block him?  Oh, the humanity...

:o

Its a nice problem to have.  Look at how many blue chip players the Vikes have just on D.

1) Linval.   How did we manage to steal him?
2) Rhodes.  Using Microsfts new tools Rhodes is the fastest they ever measured during an actual game.
3) Griff.  Geez I was wrong about him.
4) Smith
5) Barr.
6) Kendricks

All Blue Chip players

I'll add Hunter as a blue chip player as well.  He's not getting the sack numbers this year, but he's doing extremely well also.  Still very young with loads of untapped potential ahead of him

I'm going to go off the board and pick Sendejo.  If he doesn't step up his game the way he has this year, they're still outside the top 10 in defense.  His growth and ability to handle more responsibility has allowed a lot of the others to be better.

My first thought was Linval, but you can't underestimate how much it means to a defense to just basically eliminate their #1 receiver. Man, that is so huge. Atlanta without Julio, Cinci without Green. Just makes those teams completely different teams. It's like pulling the teeth out of a Tiger. It's just a big kitty.
