Seriously - what was the taunting call for? They never showed a replay on the screen at the stadium and I still don't know what Keenum did to get that call.

He gently tossed the ball about 3 feet after getting tackled and it hit a defender. How a player who just got stopped on 3rd down and sat defeated on the ground can be seen as “taunting” an opponent is beyond me...

He threw the ball. It was more like a gentle toss and he wasn't throwing it at his opponent. He wasn't even looking at him. I thought it was bogus he wasn't being unsportsmanlike.

Thanks. It made no sense at all. I kept wondering how a QB who just got tackled start taunting someone. No one around me understood either but they were Lions fans who were just happy to see another flag.

Yeah, it made no sense.  He was sitting there after the sack and tossed the ball a few feet in front of him but I guess it landed either next to the Lions player that was rolling around or it touched him.  It was a lame penalty.

For some reason I do not have a reply button to the topic so I can only reply by quote.

Did anyone notice the last TD by the Lions when Stafford was injured?  That should have been a flag by the offense for holding.  If you watch the play carefully, look at why the Viking's defensive player rolled into Stafford.  He was held and PULLED down to the turf by the offensive lineman.

That last Lions TD should not have counted.

The game today made up my mind that the Vikings will never win a Super Bowl. Not because they arent talented enough, but that the NFL does not want them to succeed.

Maybe it was in the original agreement for a franchise in Minnesota that the Vikngs can never win the big one. (Don’t even try and say anything about the ‘69 NFL Championship, that was a bone they threw the Vikings for being fucked for the rest of their existence)

It was obvious that the NFL wanted a close game and that they were going to do everything in their power to provide one, and hopefully make it so the Lions won.

The review of the catch on the Lions TD before the half when the call stood was absolutely ridiculous. The ball hit the ground and moved, he clearly didn’t have control of the ball.

If you are going to call PI, then fucking call it. It goes both ways. The non call on Diggs happened when I was drivng to my sister’s house and both of the Westwood One radio guys were saying it was the worst non call they had ever seen.

Top all that off with a BS call on Keenum for taunting, WTF!.

Fuck the NFL!  When Stafford got rolled into, I verbally said, “Good, screw the Lions”.  Of course in a house full of Bears fans, they all were agast that I would be glad he got hurt.

I’m tired of the bullshit that we have to put up with as Vikings fans. There will be some bullshit call that fucks the Vikings out of homefield advantage this season, and if they happen to overcome that, the NFL will stick to us in the Super Bowl!

Here's another thing...the first four or five plays of our first drive the Lions appeared to have at least two lineman lined up offside... Anyone else see that?

I notice D linmen lining up offsides a lot.  It almost never gets called. I don’t understand it. How frickin hard is it to look down the line of scrimmage and see a guy lined up off sides?

LT Decker leaving early all game as well.  Not only was it the game they wanted closer, but the division.

Or at least confine them to only doing Browns games.

And still, Zimmer says nothing. He needs to make it uncomfortable for the NFL and the officials when they blatantly screw his team. Otherwise, there is no reason not to. He needs to Man up; talk about the no call on Diggs and compare that to the P.I. on Rhodes. Bring photos to the press conference. Identify by name who called the PI on Rhodes and who decided not to call it on the Diggs play. Talk about what effect the call and the no call had on the game. Let them know that your players work too hard every day and risk injury every play and it is not too much to ask that professional refs be both competent and neutral. But I'm sure he won't . . . until a blown call ends our season. Too bad.

Yes sir.  I mean I can live with the two PI calls they called on us to give Detroit an opportunity to score before half...  But to call those and then NOT call the OBVIOUS PI on Diggs???

C'mon man...

i was listening to the game on Westwood 1 radio and they were going apoplectic on the Diggs non-call.  Said it was the worst blown call they'd ever seen. :(

Apparently it's ok unless it's the Vikings. I thought that taunting penalty was ridiculous. I will have to rewatch but that facemask on Kendricks looked weak. And of course that lack of pass interference on Diggs was insane. They overcame the refs.
The facemask was a horrible call.  Almost thought Aaron Rodgers was out there for that one.

The non overturned catch on the sidelines was also bad.  I could clearly see the ball moving and touch the ground.

The taunting on case was there.  He tossed the ball at the guy who had sacked him.  It was weak, but I understand that call.  The non pi was just awful.  Blandino said the ref had his hand on the flag but decided to not throw it.  Wtf

I am guessing Zimmer is doing not saying anything publicly to avoid any fines from the NFL. In one of the articles on ESPN 1500 Minneapolis, he does state he told the team they knew this would happen and they had to keep their cool. So it seemed they were expecting bad calls. That alone is a disgusting and disturbing thought. I am probably just a fat bald grouchy old man, but I have thought for years, that the NFL dictates who wins and loses, especially at play off time. Drew Pearson push off and the beating of Farve in the New Orleans game. When Farve was with GB, if you farted on him, it was a penalty, yet in the New Orleans game, they damn near killed him and nothing.  Yesterday's call took the whole crappy ref thing and the NFL we want a certain team to win to an all new level. No holding on Detroit, the face mask, the non call on PI on Diggs and the taunting call on Keenum are all beyond explanation, except the NFL trying to dictate the games to promote their own agenda.
A sad state of affairs and is killing the game and driving fans away. Sorry for the long incoherent rambling.

On another note, the cheer leading announcers do not help my sweet disposition either !

it was a penalty yes,  but the hand on the flag thing is pretty common to see on every play.  Whistle in the teeth and hand on the flag to be ready if they need them.
