Keenum
On the play where Keenum ducked and was hit in the head, then avoided another Ram and heaved the ball to Theilen, the question I have, should there have been a penalty against the Rams for hitting Keenum in the head?
I thought you cannot hit the QB in the head.
Yes it should have been, in fact he got hit in the head twice on that same play. Guess Case doesn’t get those calls, being a career backup & all... ;)
It should have been and it was booed loudly when it wasn't.
yeah they were not calling them, how about the swing the ram to at the viking. Ref right there and they did not call it. was plain as day and I remember hearing the loud boos going. I imagine they showed the replay on the jumbotron
Lots of missed calls. The obvious pass interference against Theilen in the end zone that should have been first and goal at the one. Terrible non call, then they call PI on some ticky tack hand check :#
goff got a cheap roughing the passer earlier too... that was a magical play by case. all i can say was wow.
I'm shocked, shocked I say, that a ref failed to protect a Viking QB in a big game.

They did. I booed then too. That was straight up bs. Harrison even got hot on a play that should have been offensive pass interference. He went up to the ref showing that his jersey was grabbed. It was, but no call.
Zimmer may need to take one (a fine) for the team. Maybe even two. Come out in the post-game presser and put it out there. "Yes, there are always missed calls, but when the missed call is a blow to the QB's head or an egregious P.I. in the end-zone, those are inexcusable and do not seem to happen to other playoff teams. There is an official who is looking right at that play. He did not miss it. He just chose not to make the call." Acknowledge that you are going to get fined but let it be known that you are not going to sit idly by while the officials hold your team to a different standard.
The first time we played the Lions, they used the Seattle strategy: just interfere on every pass play; the refs won't call them all. The Lions' DBs were hands on all day. X used to get called for that every game his first two seasons. If the rules apply to him, they apply to the Lions, too. When the coaches talk to the press the day before the game, he should raise the point and do it again with the officials before the game.
Zimmer being a good soldier and keeping his mouth shut is not enough.
Keenum with the 'duck and chuck'....great play because it worked. If it didn't, you would have been able to fry eggs sunny-side up on Zimmer's forehead with a INT there. I think this is the reason that Zimmer isn't 100% sold on Keenum: he gets 'off the reservation' at times too often for his liking. So far, so good....until it isn't. But I'm enjoying it working!

i dont know about that.... some of the most often gifted by the ref teams seem to be the ones that are on them the most.
On the field yes but in press conferences they typically do not like that.
Wasn't it last year against the Cowboys that Bradford got hit on the head - maybe during a 2-point conversion or a 4th down play? Whatever it was, it was the QB with the ball getting smacked on the head. And no call. Because when it is the Cowboys on the one hand and the Vikings on the other, better to opt in favor of the Cowboys. And we don't even want to talk about when we are playing GB.
Zimmer is supposed to be a no-nonsense straight shooter who tells it like it is. In fact, that may have been part of why it took so long for him to get a HC job. So just as he will not sit still for players not doing their jobs, he should not sit back and let the refs screw his team without calling them out. Not for every missed call. Just the egregious stuff. And do it win or lose so you don't look like a sore loser. If the ref apologizes for missing the call, OK, we all make mistakes. No need to be a dick. But if there is a double standard or some notion that we have not earned it, screw that. Call them out. Pay the fine.

It was a 2 pt conversion that we needed to tie the game with under a minute to go and really keep our play off hopes alive. It was one of the games I was think when I mentioned the refs not protecting our QB in a big game.
