In case anyone was wondering...
Leber noted that it was so loud the D couldn't hear their calls & told of having to use hand signals back in the Dome
it was crazy loud today. a lot of fun, great atomsphere
Rams tend come to the line quickly, survey the defense, and make their calls at the line. The crowd noise and the Vikings' disguising their defense (after the Rams' first drive) made a huge difference. Goff was either confused or not able to change calls at the line. They ended up taking a couple of T.O.s and getting a delay penalty. The crowd was great yesterday.
Hell yeah!! On TV you could barely hear the commentators at times.
During the first drive P.A. and the other announcer on the radio were saying that the fans needed to start getting loud to help slow down the Rams.

The crowd was great yesterday.Goff gets to the line before the QB communications turn off so the coaches can read the defense for him. He gets to the line and then takes forever setting up the formation. Once I saw him covering his earholes on the helmet when he was already at the line.
The first drive was all scripted plays, so the QB doesn't have to read the D, just goes with what was planned vs the look they get. After that, they hardly were able to move the ball.
Another reason why we need at least one home playoff game. This crowd gives us a definite home field advantage.

I think people seriously underestimate how good this defense is. Yes the Eagles are a good team. But our defense is insanely good.

If we can win these 3, I will start to relax about Philly, but after giving up 30 to the Skins on the road I am still a little gun shy.... not to mention Philly is looking like they getting better as the season progresses in terms of becoming more complete. They have a solid D of their own, and lead the league in scoring. That could be a monster match up. The NFC playoffs are looking like they are going to be very very tough this year, I really want home field if you hadnt heard... :)

Jim... This is a game changing defense. Of course every defense is going to have some sort of weakness. While this defense may not be airtight.... It is pretty close.

we have looked vulnerable against decent offenses on the road... whats so hard to understand about that. The steelers and the redskins both scored points on this D on their fields when our D didnt have the crowd noise advantage. the rest of the teams we have played on the road arent really worth writing home about so in a conversation talking about our D vs playoff teams potentially on the road... yes I am looking for more. The next 3 weeks will be very good tests to convince me that the rankings are worth the paper they are printed on.right now I say we have a very good defense, but game changing... not proven there yet IMO. in a conversation regarding our defense I dont think the win/loss record should matter when we are talking about winning a game with over 60 combined points... no good defense is ever happy giving up 30 points, even in a win.

The steelers scored 6 of their 26 points with less than 3:20 seconds on the clock. And the defense was on the field all damn day because the offense was adjusting to the change in personnel. The Defense actually played fairly well that day all things considered. Offense not clicking, on the road, home opener for Pittsburgh.

great defenses carry games. I am not saying they cant be great, or that they arent great, I just need to see them play some tougher road games before I am going to go all in on their greatness. as far as I am concerned this team has a lot to prove yet. we've talked all year about this stretch of games defining this team, well here they are, now its time to go win them.
I thought it was the last stretch of four games that was going to define them.....
@"Mike Olson" said: I thought it was the last stretch of four games that was going to define them.....what 4 is that? if you are talking the playoff then it should only be 3 games as we are sitting pretty for a first round bye.
Gave up 7 points to the top scoring offense. Yes. This defense is special. Championship level special.
@"wiviking" said: Gave up 7 points to the top scoring offense. Yes. This defense is special. Championship level special.could they have done it without the crowd noise? I think people undersell how important that home crowd can be on opposing offenses. Like somebody else pointed out, the Rams get to the line, read the defense and the OC adjusts the play in Goffs helmet for him, he wasnt able to make his changes yesterday due to the crowd. Thats huge.
I am not trying to say the defense isnt special, but I want to see how special they can be without the crowd to help them out.
