Wow, I looked at his contract in Spotrac recently and it showed the option out after 2017 but I did not realize Rodgers had the option. Hard to believe they gave him that power.

A lot of people are going to scream "NEVER" at the suggestion, but I bet most would change their thoughts if it happened.

Good to know that the Packers will either use him or spend a fortune keeping him.

Multiple Super Bowls if you land him somehow and fit him cap wise...it would take gold medal cap gymnastics to do it, but if you did...multiple Lombardis with GB's QB...Green Bay would look like Jonestown...

I wonder how the never-Favre group would handle this one?

Multiple super bowls for the Vikes.  Drafting offensive lineman with our top picks to continue the dynasty.

Not sure how I would handle it.  I think he's a jerk

That would be tough. I always respected Favre and had no problem with him coming here, but my feelings towards Rodgers are quite a bit more hostile.

I would rather we continue our decades of disappointment campaign than sign rogers.   he is the anti-christ to what Vikings football was, is, and ever will be as far as im concerned.

Even if this did happen why would he come here? I could see him going somewhere like the Giants or 9er's (poor Jimmy G) or Washington. Seems like a large market personality to me. Besides, I'm sure he knows that if he came here he'd NEVER get any calls anymore. Favre got many of the calls when he played for the Pack but when he was with us the refs allowed him to get the crap beat out of him, especially in the NFCC game.

Viking fans would hate him until they loved him.

Hey, he already likes Grape Crush. :p

I'm not sure why people don't like him. I guess I've just never paid that much attention to him off the field. Whether we'd be interested or not (still holding out hope that Teddy returns and becomes our long term answer), I hope he does opt out. And Minnesota would be a very attractive place for him considering our roster...and if he has any beef with the yellow team.

I don't care if Satan is our QB...I want a Lombardi trophy to offset my 45 years of turmoil before I die

That was Charles Johnson's number. He can't have that one.  Too many memories!

Not a big fan of Satan. I've seen him get hot, but the bifurcated tail and hay fork limit his mobility.

Would love to see him go to the giants.  He would get killed.  On the field and off.  They have neglected the o-line and the first time A-Hole tried passing the buck or deflecting the blame the media would eat him up.

Niners would be perfect for him - he can go attend his Cal Bears games on Saturdays!

Great defense and a good Oline, indoors for 8 games, familiarity with the division and he's still pissed about Matthews wrecking his truck

I haven’t seen anyone other than Cowherd say that he owns the option. The Packer posters on Reddit think it’s a team option.

Regardless, I would think there is absolutely no chance he would play in MN. Doing so would absolutely destroy his legacy in GB.

But Brett Favre! People would say.  Sorry, wouldn’t be close to the same situation. Favre retired, then wanted to come back, and the team had moved on so they pushed him out the door.

Rodgers opting out would just be a blind side move, but then going to one of his team’s most hated rivals and coming back every year and beating GB on their own field while they decend into a cellar dwelling organization?  It would be unforgiveable.

Because make no mistake, had the Packers fallen into a Browns-like rut of incompetence, desspite the stark differences in the situations, the fans wouldn’t have forgiven Favre either.

Well, let's add up all the rings Burt got us...errr...let's see...carry the 2...

...none.  In that regard, he's a QB that played one very good season and then one tragic, overpaid, dumbass-idea of a season.  I still look back at that era and wince, give me the '98ers any ol' day.

Would I survive a Rodgers-led Vikings era?  Yep...just like I survived the McMahon and Burt Favor times.  However, until picking up one of our arch-nemesis retreads gets us rings, the concept doesn't do much for me.

I’d assume he’d like to play somewhere that had an actual defense.  in that way, Minnesota would be attractive.  i’d also add, along with that a nice new inddor stadium and the chance to play Green Bay twice a year.

Yeah, let's add it up.

Two Viking quarterbacks that were drafted by the Vikings won Super Bowls.  Brad Johnson and Tavaris Jackson.  A third, Rich Gannon, was drafted by the Patriots but traded to the Vikings.

The NFL is a business.  Players play where they are drafted.  Some, like Favre and Rodgers, are Hall of Famers that won Super Bowls for our rival.

So you hate them because they were good and played for our rivals.

I don't care about such matters.  The NFL is a business first.  I want a title.  I have been a fan since the early 70s.

I honestly believe only a few therapy sessions are needed to fix you.  ;)
