Zimmer: Doctors will determine when Teddy Bridgewater returns

Really curious to see if Teddy still has it after his injury.

If he has medical clearance to practice like any other player, why wouldn't he have medical clearance to play? Strange. I think he's ready to go but they are being very cautious. Which is fine. Until after the bye. 

Waiting until after the bye week gives everyone (coaches & doctors) an extra week of evaluation on Teddy's condition and how he looks in practice.  In this situation, you got to be sure...

I agree, if he is full participation in practice,  the doctors have already spoken as long as there is no swelling or discomfort.

Also,  this is giving Shurmur a little more time to evalutae Teddy and build a game plan with his strengths and not force him into his more limited areas to often.

Like Jimmy points out, he's been medically cleared to practice, but I'm sure the team docs are still checking out the knee to make sure there isn't any swelling, discomfort, etc. with him being back at practice.  If his knee is responding well to the ramped up workload, I think that's all they want to see before activating him.

No kidding?  The team is going to listen to doctors?  lol...slow day

I would agree that they are evaluating how his knee reacts everyday after practice. Seems to be doing well if they are willing to take him on the London trip.
I would guess that Shurmur does have to evaluate just how much and what Teddy can do to form a game plan if he is asked to play. Right now they don't know a lot or what Teddy can do. Shurmur needs to know that before just throwing in a QB to sling the rock.

Got to remember Teddy hasn't taken a snap in a game in over 14 months.  With just 2 full weeks of practice is not going to knock all the rust off all at once.   They will probably take their time easing Teddy back into real games.

Ive seen several references to wether or not they take Teddy to London... why the hell woudnt they take him?  He is part of the team even if he isnt fully active yet.  Is there some high school style rule about only allowing so many guys to travel to away games that Ive never hear of?

we all read into things. the following statement stands out to me:

reads to me like Zimmer knows he is going with Teddy as soon as possible.

Another though is...look at Sam Bradford, he's had two knee surgeries on the same knee and now look how he's sitting wondering if he will ever play again.  The Organization is probably a little fearful and gun-shy that they don't want another repeat with Teddy.  The Vikes do have a history of having bad luck with players' injuries at the worst possible time.

by the way,  i thought you and the wife were coming in for the bucs game?

Jimmy. i still beleive Teddy couldve been cleared to practice way earlier than he was and has been physically ready for a while.

maybe i was gung ho on them actually activating him sooner and that being cautious was the more prudent approach. teddy is our franchise qb being careful isnt a bad thing. we are 4-2 without him. team handled it well. 

as for bucs game. i ended up having to travel for work the monday after game. couldnt get it hanlded logistically. wish i couldve made it though. im far more succesful in getting people to understand my sports and politcally opinions when in person. sometimes i can even convince them to come over to the “right” side of discussion.  B)

The other concern isn't the bad knee and if it's ready, but rather this happened to a healthy knee without contact.   Will it happen again?

I think Zimmer is just giving a political answer.  He can just defer to the medical staff, who conveniently aren't available to answer questions and move on.  If he said something along the lines of "Bridgewater is making a lot of progress, but I'm not going to tell you who's going to start in London".  Then he just opens himself up to a lot of questions from the media regarding exactly how much progress he's made, and what qualifications the coaching staff has that will say when he's ready to go.

It's a good question. I'm sure they've scrutinized the hell out of it by now. Least I hope they have.
