Schefter: It's Wentz
Had to happen

This is most important. It gives him time to work with the ones and put together a game plan.

That quote makes me feel it's a benching. "I think we'll get really good QB play. We had production when that's happened"
KOC has balls. If Kyler was playing any sorts of good football he plays Monday night.
It's funny how the Vikings refuse to publicly bench a QB

Yes ~ This is so important. Glad he'll get in full practices prior to Monday.

Exactly. Not sure you can though. You traded JJM because we had the sure thing. That may be suicide to bench him without an excuse. The fans would have rolled.

I wouldn't say Wentz has thrived in this offense. He’s had a couple good games and a bunch of mediocre ones. Like we shouldn’t hate Kyler so much that we have revisionist history for Wentz.
He’s averaging 138 yards passing in his 2 games this season. Over these past two seasons that’s 4 games in the 100-200 yd range, 1 game in the 200-300 yd range, and 2 games 300+ yd range.
What I do think he’ll do is throw the ball downfield if the his first read is open and use most of the field. He’s definitely more in the mold of what KOC wants out of his QB, even though he has his own limitations.
His "level of mastery" garnered him the backup QB status.
His stats this year are much better than Kylers, maybe not piling up the yards, but TDs wise. And that seems to open up the run game as well. And that was coming in as the backup and then the rainstorm. So I think it is worth taking a look. Kyler is flat out not getting it done.
Soft benching and that is fine by me. You can’t watch the All 22 and nit lose your mind watching Kyler. You don’t have to be super mobile or have a monster arm to have success in this offense, but accuracy and anticipation are must haves. Kyler struggles with both.
I’m ready to see Wentz and I’m hoping they are shopping for a QB with the traits I just described. They had JJM, his accuracy and touch needed work, but his anticipation was pretty good. He was a work in progress, but could get there and that’s just one other reason the trade pisses me off so much (and the return being unforgivable).
I prefer Mac Jones or the moon shot Herbert. I’m still hoping they get something done.

I believe its a soft benching too...Maybe it'll help in the long run this season? It's that kinda year (again).
I am very convinced they are going with the QB room they got right now. Unless disaster strikes from injuries.
Think its too late to bring in someone new at QB for all the reasons of complexity, timing etc..
Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

These are all my way of thinking, also.

Kevin Seifert
Kevin O'Connell declines to address the position beyond this week.

Yeah, no doubt. I'm just tempering my expectations

speaking of revisionist though... have to remember that the first game wasnt a whole game, kyler had 2 series IIRC, and the second one was played in total shit conditions. I do agree that the story was a little heavy on the BS sauce.

I am sorry for bringing this up again. I am just really really frustrated about that trade. Oh I said that already too 😡
You're not alone, I'm still miles beyond pissed and it's not going away anytime soon. Every aspect of that trade looks completely moronic, and I increasingly believe it was to solve "distractions" in a divided locker room...along with KOC's inability to "raise" the very same young QBs that get let down by their teams.
Several analysts have predicted that he'll go forth, and have success against us in pivotal games. It's tough to disagree.
"AVAILABLE: DUMBASS GM. MAY TRADE WRONG QB. WILL TRADE FOR 1/2 PACK OF FUDGE STRIPE COOKIES. 'QB WHISPERER POTENTIALLY' THROWN IN FOR FULL PACK"
I apologize. Sorry for being the wet blanket here. I’m completely off my rocker. Put me down for 14 total offensive TDs this week, 11 of them by Wentz, none of them set up by short fields due to our defense or ST. In fact I feel so confident that I will definitively state that against one of the leagues worst defenses, there’s no way our offense will disappoint us this week, and the entire media landscape will see us as undisputed kings of the NFL with an offense this titanic.

This is kinda how I feel about Wentz starting, but.....I am starving at the moment. And, I won't lie, this is the first time this season I'm even a little excited to watch a game. There is zero question in my mind this was a "opportune" soft benching. I think had Kyler been playing well this season, he'd absolutely be starting this week. I think If Wentz provides the offense a spark, they'll ride the hot hand.
Although if he fails, I think the rest of this season is in real jeopardy. I honestly can't see the Vikings trading for a QB at this point and whether or not Wentz plays at a level that allows the Vikings to win will determine how active the team is at the deadline.
Monday night, good or bad, will likely write the story for the rest of the season.

The Vikings spent all summer on an open QB competition, and now one guy's benched, and one guy's gone lol. It's a total disaster. But the team as a whole is playing lights out so maybe this can be salvaged.
I disagree with those saying the Vikings won't trade for a QB. I won't be surprised at all if they do something. Dobbs, Bradford, Freeman, all started for us pretty quickly after arrival, just off the top of my head. The Wilfs prioritize the now.

Only one problem… KoC’s offense is too complex and QBs need time. Kyler is still learning the offense remember?😡
