I read somewhere long ago that when Tampa Bay built their stadium, it was designed to expose the visiting team on their sideline to the sun and heat during its games, and the Bucs would be sitting on their sideline in the shade where it was cooler.

Raymond James Stadium, the home of the Tampa Bay Buccanners, was built with a traditional north-to-south field orientation. This design naturally places the home sideline on the west side (in the shade as the afternoon progresses) and forces the visiting sideline onto the east side, exposing them to direct, brutal Florida sun.

The heat has become such a prominent issue for fans at Raymond James Stadium that the Buccaneers are actively seeking a $1 billion renovation to add a massive canopy sun shade to protect spectators.
