I'm probably considered a "Zim Basher". His team exceeded my expectations today and I'm happy to admit it and happy for the win.

He better win the next two, of course... ;)

What's really great is the ESPN headline about the game:

http://www.espn.com/blog/minnesota-vikings/post/_/id/24029/vikings-beat-hobbled-packers-team-and-improve-its-chances-to-win-a-now-wide-open-nfc-north

"Vikings beat hobbled packers team..."

Yeah, the Vikings weren't hobbled at all. No Bradford. No Bridgewater. No Cook. No Diggs. No Easton. Barr left early with a concussion. So, you know, two starting quarterbacks, (arguably) their two best offensive players, their starting left guard, and then one of their key defensive players.

The Packers were without Rodgers, Bulaga, Bahkarti, Taylor, and Rollins. Yes, it's tough to have good line play with a bunch of injuries and shuffling, but that's something the Vikings dealt with the past three or more seasons. I guess I don't have much sympathy. Further, Rollins is absolute garbage and there's been talk of him losing playing time in the slot... except they don't really have anyone better. So, yeah, I guess it's really just Rodgers. And, based on how aggressive the defense was today and how many times Hundley got immediate pressure and was hit the remainder of the game, maybe Rodgers should be happy he left Minnesota with just a broken collarbone.

Great win. I am pleasantly surprised. The defense actually dominated like a top 5 D should, especially at home and against an unprepared back up ( although they did give Rodgers a hard time, too). But 6 games does not a season make.

Plus, we still dont know who the QB will be in 2018 despite all of the draft picks spent on that position between 2011 and 2016. That's NOT good no matter HOW you choose to spin it.

But, I know you tough guys enjoy crowing after individual wins. I'll reserve my final comments on the 2017 season once the 2017 season is over. But there are NO EXCUSES going forward. The division is there for the taking and with all the talent on the Vikings' roster, as I've been hearing for 3-4 years now, the division crown should be a cake walk.

Enjoy bashing me this week.....I sincerely hope you can continue to do so in February of 2018. We'll just have to see what ACTUALLY transpires.

Pretty astounding being 4-2 right now for the Vikings considering everything. Could be 5-1 without that sleep walk episode against Detroit.

You really must live a miserable life.

They just beat the Packers to go to 4-2 in a division (and, honestly, a conference) that has no real favorite. The offensive line looks fixed. The defense is humming.

I guess you can sit around and wait for 2018 to see what actually happens. Maybe you could also just sit around and see what actually transpires in 2019 and 2020 as well. Or maybe 2021. Or, better yet, maybe just stop watching all together and buy an almanac in 2030 to look back on what actually transpired.

I'm not too worried about the quarterback situation. This is the deepest roster they've had in a long time and they've built it despite using all those picks on quarterbacks. They have an offensive line, supporting cast on offense, and defense that are capable of winning games with just an average quarterback who doesn't turn the ball over and can make most of the NFL throws. Most importantly, they seem like a roster built on team-first guys.

But, yeah, just wait it out and run back here at the first sign of trouble to say you told us so. Because celebrating in your misery is really a healthy practice...

The rebuild of the OL has been impressive to date...considering they had next to zero snaps together in the preseason makes it more impressive...zero sacks again...

I still feel like the OL isn't blocking well in the Run department. But then again it seems that they aren't blocking well for Murray for some reason as McKinnon of all people all of a sudden looks tough running the ball.

NJVike you haven't held back your opinion after losses though. And don't let me tell you to not participate. You have your thoughts on the team. It's valid to speak them, but people are going to respond in kind.

Berger is still a weak link.  we are getting no consistent push on that side and he isnt anchoring in pass pro very well either. I think that they need to look at Isidora in short yardage situations at a minimum to try and get some more out of that right side.  I hate to mess with the OL,  but Joe is at the end of the road and its really showing.

its hard to be critical after a win... especially after a win over the hated fuckers from sconnie,  but I am kind of disappointed in how the offense looked in the win.  Their defense was absolute shit and we really failed most of the game to put them away.  The morale on that sideline was in the shitter all day, but they were actually in the game until the end as our offense crawled into a hole everytime we got a 2 score lead.   This should have been a  laugher and instead it was a game to the end.  I know that Case would likely win governor of Minny if an election was held tomorrow,  but he really isnt doing much good out there.  his passes are erratic at best,  has no consistent touch on the ball,  weak arm,  and it appears that everytime he saw 7 or more in the box he was checking to run.  ( unless they were calling nothing but runs to chew the clock in which case lets beat up shurmur a bit as well)

I dont like playing not to lose,  that is like a prevent defense,  it will fail you when you need it the most.  lets see some convincing wins when the opportunity presents itself.  lets put some fear in opposing defenses.  for shit sake, i want to see some swagger from the offensive side of the ball.

if Teddy gets good news tomorrow,  and assuming Sam is not coming back real soon,  I think we have to look at getting Teddy ready for week 10 coming out of the bye week.  we have a tough second half of the season and unless Case can find whatever game he had against Tampa and repeat it often,  there is no way he is going to take this team anywhere and we cant always rely on the other teams defense to be in a mash unit and the opposing offense not to put up any fight.

(lets hear the boos...)

Cook first, and now McKinnon have made the OL look better by breaking tackles. Or if not breaking, then taking the tackler for another yard or 2. Murray just goes down thump.

so there is room for improvement....i dont like that we cant get a yard or two when we need a yard or two.  I dont watch the line as close as I used to,  but Berger has never been that great and has done nothing to change my mind this year.  I like his versatility,  but as a starter I always feel that there has to be a better option... at least he doesnt false start or get many holding penalties i guess he has that going for him.

Ha!

Good for you!! Relishing a win over GB is almost (almost) like the endorphin rush after a hot episode of sex.

Slobberknocker of a game, far from pretty...But damn will take it and run.

Team should be 6/2 at the Bye with Ravens and Cleveland up next.

Actually, my sporadic posts have been equally distributed throughout the season, but, whatever.

Not sure why you're telling me that people will respond in kind....I no longer comment about the numerous d-bags that insult me in posts that I am not participating in at the time, such as this one. My initial comments are always directed at the Vikings performance and the front office (you know, the DECISION MAKERS). Its never about a particular poster or group of posters.....until THEY make it  personal.

I've accepted the fact that this board  is a clique that wants to pretend the Vikings are the greatest franchise in sports, despite glaring facts showing otherwise, and its easy to gang up on someone who critiques a regime that is sub .500 for 12 seasons and has 1 playoff win during that span. Could not care less about anyone's opinion of me or my thoughts on the Vikings front office.

As I said, great win today, hope they keep it going. But I will reserve my final commentary on the 2017 season until the Vikings 2017 season is completed.

Not sure why the "SHOW ME" approach irritates fans on this board soooooo much. I would think that the incredible streak of mediocrity would be more upsetting, but to each his own.

But, hey, don't let me interfere with the prognostications of a home Super Bowl victory. Have at it.....Lord knows Viking fans have had little to cheer about the past decade. I just prefer to celebrate ACTUAL playoff success, not the "woulda, shoulda, coulda" variety that has been bandied about here ad nauseum.

Wishing all a good night.

Peace.
