Brez tried his hand in personnel like 20 years ago and the team decided that was no bueno.  So now the draft will be Brez and Grigson?  Yikes.

This move surprises me because the timing is odd.  Usually you can the guys you want to right after the season.  What kinda shit is going on behind the scenes in our  dysfunctional front office?

There are a few more names in that dysfunctional front office that need to be flushed (Miller, Grigson, etc.)

Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings announced today General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has been relieved of his duties:

Following our annual end-of-season organizational meetings over the last several weeks and after careful consideration, we have decided it is in the best interest of the team to move forward with new leadership of our football operations. These decisions are never easy. We are grateful for Kwesi's contributions and commitment to the organization over the past four years and wish him and his family the best in the future.

Effective immediately, Executive Vice President of Football Operations Rob Brzezinski will lead our operations through the 2026 NFL Draft. Rob brings tremendous credibility and experience, understands our roster and has the ability to build consensus and rely on the expertise of our personnel and coaches. After the draft, we intend to conduct a thorough search to identify our next general manager. Building a team that can contend for championships drives us every day, and we look forward to bringing our fans the success they so deserve. - Mark & Zygi Wilf

Brez is in charge of the operations, sounds like Grigson will run the draft.

This from the press release caught my eye....

“ understands our roster and has the ability to build consensus and rely on the expertise of our personnel and coaches.

That is not comforting in the least.

I can almost guarantee you that KAM was the one arguing for the rookie contract over paying Darnold. But I'll ask again, who here wanted to dive back into paying another QB big money? Not many.

It was reported that KOC wanted more say in personnel when they were negotiating a new contract last off-season. Maybe this has been brewing where some of the decisions from the FO weren't aligned with the Head Coach/coaching staff. Gotta think letting Darnold and Daniel Jones walk may have something to do with it.

"Throughout the season, there was talk about an underlying "tension" in the Vikings' building in league circles, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. One league source told Schefter it had been "ugly" in Minnesota.

The timing was unusual, as Adofo-Mensah had given a postseason news conference on Jan. 13 and had spent this week in Mobile, Alabama, scouting Senior Bowl practices. He is seven months removed from signing what the Vikings called a multiyear contract extension. The team had no immediate comment."

Something happened. Someone either threatened to leave or something reared its head with Kwesi. I mean, he was just in Mobile for the Senior Bowl, lol. YESTERDAY.

Its weird that if there was all this talk behind the scenes that today is the first anything is reported about it.

Well at least he’s a football guy. Maybe un-geeking the process, will you know, yield to the drafting of football players.

Agree. I really think this has a lot more to do with the 2025 offseason decisions than it does the draft: Massive amount of cap going to marginal players like Hargrave, Allen, and Fries. Add to that Ingram, Blackmon, Bradbury, Phillips, Howell, Jones....and the starting QB in the Super Bowl.

That's mostly up to the scouting staff, but the way I hear it, the new draft team will try to do a better job "building consensus" with the coaching staff when it comes to the draft. I'm no fan of dictator leadership styles and it's a bit hard to believe that's how KAM led, but who knows?
