@"Montana Tom" You misspelled Wince, which was going to be my thread title. Kudos to @"MaroonBells" for the new and highly appropriate moniker.

OK, well...we're winning every other game, so we should be due for a "good Wentz" evening...!
KOC, JJM, Flores...make a good plan, or you'll be following Kwesi....
Wintz is a good one, gotta admit...
Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

And the "Bolts" starts with a B so that follows the pattern.
Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?
I finally get to watch a live game. If Wentz becomes Wintz, will Brosmer get a chance?

I wouldn't mind seeing Him start over Wentz.
After putting quarterback J.J. McCarthy through a morning workout on Tuesday and determining “he’s not there yet,” the Vikings will start Carson Wentz on Thursday night against the Chargers, head coach Kevin O’Connell said.
Max Brosmer will again be the backup and McCarthy will be the emergency third QB, as he was Sunday against the Eagles.
“If this was a Sunday game, maybe it would be a little bit of a different story,” O’Connell said. “We could push it throughout the week and see where he’s at towards the end of the week. But really is a Friday, being 48 hours out from the game.”
O’Connell said McCarthy’s high right ankle sprain is still affecting him with some of the sudden movements he’d need to make to protect himself in a game. McCarthy returned to practice last week for the first time since sustaining the injury on Sept. 14.
“It’s been in some of the movements, the reactionary movements within the pocket, being able to use his athleticism to protect himself in the pocket, and then as he’s able to work through progressions,” O’Connell said. “I feel really good about the work we’ve done on his foundation of his fundamentals. That’s been pretty evident through the work that he’s done. And he’s really been a commitment to doing that. It’s really just about, hey, there’s maybe a guy gets edged and I don’t really know the movement I’m going to have to make.
“That’s where he still feels it. He doesn’t have the ability to do that pain-free,” O’Connell added. “We obviously risk setting him back, which would be very, very unfortunate with the time lost already, but also giving him the best chance to go out there and have success is ultimately what we’re what we’re looking for.”
McCarthy could have a chance to return for the Lions game in Detroit on Nov. 2, O’Connell said. McCarthy said he was given medical opinions that gave him multiple recovery timelines, including up to six weeks.
“Now it’s not going to need to be something where he’s 130%,” O’Connell said. “Quite honestly, with this kind of injury, he’s got to work through some of that here late in the rehab stages, but it’s about his effectiveness and his ability to go out and do his job for 60 minutes without having any setbacks or making his job more difficult than it has to be.”

Worst sprained ankle in the history of sport!
I'm a huge Kevin O'Connell fan. However, he better be careful with this JJ McCarthy injury. It's starting to border on ridiculous with how cautious he's being and the reasons he's providing to the media.
I get it, you want your player to be healthy enough to protect himself out there... but you have a team full of guys who are fighting through injuries and playing on Sunday.
You want your QB to be a leader and show his toughness by playing through stuff. He's letting Wentz do it, but not JJ. Hopefully it doesn't affect how the team views JJ because I'm sure he'd love to be out there with his guys.

Same here. I'm sure the Chargers have enough film on Wentz to go off on, plus some healing up may do him some good. Right now there is little film on Brosmer, so for one week, this might be a good way to pull off a sneaky win. If Brosmer struggles bad, bring in Wentz.

one has to wonder if they are more concerned about the what if Brosmer doesnt struggle? I am sure he would have some issues, but one thing he has shown is he doesnt fuck around, he finds his target and gets the ball out pretty quickly. what if he comes in and does well, then what does KOC do in terms of getting JJM the needed reps? hard to park one kid that is doing well in the interest of developing another kid, simply out of pedigree.

That is a great point. I believe if JJM was out a few more weeks, and Brosmer was to ball out and looked good at it, it would be a difficult decision, but not for one week.
If JJM is good to go next week, he has to start. He has the "C" on his jersey and he needs the reps.

An NFL player with a high ankle sprain is typically out for 4 to 6 weeks for a moderate injury, but this can vary greatly depending on the severity, with less severe sprains taking 1-2 weeks and severe or surgical cases lasting several months. For less severe sprains (Grade 1), it could be 1 to 2 weeks, while a more significant, partial tear (Grade 2) might be 4 to 6 weeks. A complete tear (Grade 3) can require surgery and a recovery timeline of several months.
With Drs also saying and expressing he will be out 6 weeks after his injury. Which means it was not just a simple sprain. Its a Thursday Night game. I get why they will wait until Detroit.
Would it be the Vikings luck that there were 4 QB opportunities in their control, in the draft Nix or JJ and in free agency, Darnold and Jones and they they choose the only one that did not turn into a legit NFL starter. Long ways to go and I do not think it will turn out that way, but the lifetime of being a Viking fan makes me wonder.

So you are saying they had two in the hand and one in the bush? Did they possibly have 2 franchise QB's on their roster last year?
I agreed with everything they did, but if JJ doesn't stay healthy or pan out, it won't be a good look.
Seattle and Colts are looking like potential Lombardi contenders and the Vikings are in last place. Excuses can be made but it won't change the facts!

I don't see how that would be a problem. Aren't they looking for a QB? Right now they don't have one. If Brosmer balls out, leave JJ on the bench.
The backup QB doesn't get any reps during game week. I think that is why they didn't pull Wentz last week as much as anything. Hopefully they will give Brosmer some reps this week and pull Wentz after he shits the bed in the first half this week.
If the Vikings had a QB last week they would have still beat the Eagles despite the defenses lapses.
We are still looking at a team with some potential to do something if they only had a QB; that isn't Wentz.
