You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it. — Robin Williams
I think in my entire life as a football fan (since around 1980) I have actually watched the halftime show 2 times. Have never been part of the demographic the NFL is searching for.))

A number of, um, red-accessorized people seemed unaware of PR's status with the United States.
Apparently, also, the announcement of Bad Bunny as the halftime lip-syncer supreme is causing some absolute meltdowns.
Apparently, switching channels for 20-30 minutes is soul crushing, or something.
cant honestly say I have heard one word on it except for here, and zero angst over it here that I've seen except the genre, nothing to do with anything that would be construed as other.
honestly if it wasnt for a post above... I wouldnt have a clue that he wasnt from NY.

Just one of many, many headlines. I picked this over the Yahoo News article with claims that "THE NFL HATES AMERICA".

LOL. Figures. But what doesn't "Spark MAGA Fury"? Seriously, search "MAGA Fury" on Google News and the result is pretty hilarious.
Another hard hitting journalistic piece from Newsweek..via Yahoo. Here's my issue with it:
Halftime shows since Jay Z's Roc Nation took over..
2026: Bad Bunny
2025: Kendrick Lamar with special guest SZA
2024: Usher with special guests Alicia Keys, Jermaine Dupri, H.E.R., will.i.am, Lil Jon, Ludacris
2023: Rihanna
2022: Eminem, Dr. Dre. Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar and Mary J. Blige
2021: The Weeknd
2020: Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, J Balvin, Emme Muniz
Not exactly a diversity of genres....
Maybe every once in a while throw in a Country act ..or a Classic Rock act...or..
Bad Bunny is kind of a douche...and he's done a halftime show before (in 2020). Kendrick Lamar did two as well. Maybe, just maybe we mix it up a little? Unless we're indeed too woke to consider other genres.
My suggestion would be to talk a band into a one time reunion...maybe a Fleetwood Mac, or Bon Jovi, or Van Halen with Wolfgang. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd...it would have some human interest as well.
Honestly, its time for a country singer imo...
Maybe Beyonce'?
God, I make myself lol some days!

You use google huh? Good to hear they're still open after the settlement. lol
I am 1 year off from being a Boomer .. and not shocked anymore by the NFLs decision making. I am irritated by the tone deafness of the NFL.
Pretty sure the NFL's biggest demographic is men and Christian (not all just the biggest). So the NFLs core audience showed what they think about Bud Light, Disney, Target, Starbucks, Cracker Barrel, and that men cant be women and vice versa. Yet the NFL selects a halftime entertainer who is not know by the core audience. Who is "gender fluid" wears dresses, sings predominantly in Spanish, Bad Bunny songs often have explicit language, sexually suggestive themes. Superbowl is about people and families gathering together for an American tradition.. almost a holiday. So as an almost Boomer you get the sense you are despised by the very companies you think your time and money built their successful. Ok Im ready to take the verbal beating from the usual suspects.

I told my liberal friends here in Madison that they have setup neighborhood detention facilities. They've been protesting them all over the city...

Didn't Bad Bunny cancel all his US tour dates because he didn't want his fans rounded up and detained? But he'll do the Superbowl.

My wife has a garden, they are all bad bunnies, soon to be dead bunnies if its garden season.
But I had never heard of him that I recall, certainly not his country of origin. I still think the outrage is largely manufactured, I was at a trade show this week, and there were all kinds of conversations about football and not once was the superbowl mentioned except in the usual way...you know " it would be nice to win one" if there is outrage out there by Trump supporters I dont see it in a state that went over 60% for him.
Looking into bunny though, I can certainly see the WTF are they thinking that a previous poster through out there, hardly seems like he was chosen to fit with the core NFL fan, more like trying to check as many woke boxes as possible.
... but I dont really care as I dont really watch other than the Vikings games any more.

Woke. LOL. You really think the halftime show performer should be chosen based on who would best entertain us old, white, American men? Who do you sell that to? Makers of RVs and non-slip socks?
C'mon, the NFL is a business. Businesses do not market to the customer they already have; they market to the customer they want. The most watched halftime in history was last year's with Kendrick Lamar. If Bad Bunny doesn't shatter those numbers, I'll be shocked.
I'm still waiting for tay tay...

Probably happen one day. She's probably the only artist who would draw as many viewers as Bad Bunny. But even she can't quite top his numbers globally. The wascally wabbit was the most streamed artist on Spotify for three consecutive years, which has never been done before. He also has the most streamed album of all time. And the Latin American viewers he's going to pull in? Oh my...

Here's the stats for those watching the Superbowl (according to mediaculture):
Demographic Profile: Average age of 49, skewing male (57%), predominantly White (68%), with Gen X and Baby Boomers making up 60% of the audience.
There's no doubt that Bad Bunny sells a lot of music as young people have always been the biggest market for recording artists. But given the average age of Superbowl viewership is 49 with 60% + of the audience 50 years and older, do you really believe that Bad Bunny hits that viewership demographic?
Maybe, just maybe, we can mix it up a little bit? I don't see that happening with Jay Z's company handling bookings.

Uh-oh... damn facts. They are right that they arent targeting those they already have, but when the advertisers find out that most of those tuning into the game tune out for halftime... what does that do to the value of those premium ad spots? I am sure there are some that tune in specifically for the half time show, but I kind of doubt its enough to offset all of us that find soemthing better to do for 30 minutes.
I do think swift would be an act that would shatter everything and set numbers that wouldn't be seen again, not my thing but I can't ignore the insanity that surrounds her.
