Can the Vikings thwart history and win at Soldier Field on Monday Night Football?
The Minnesota Vikings travel to Soldier Field in Chicago on Monday night to take on a well-coached John Fox team in the Chicago Bears. The Bears do not have the talent to make a playoff push, but t…
Matt Gille is a new contributor for us and I hope you all will welcome him to The Longship.
I met Matt a couple weeks ago in the tailgate lot at the Bucs game. Matt is knowledgeable VikeFan who is there to cheer this team on!
Skol Matt! And thanks for your contribution.
Thanks for having me! Know that I always want the Vikings to win even though I predicted a Bears win. I've been a Vikings fan since 1974, season ticket holder since 2001 and avid tailgater. Please join me at 3rd and Chicago for any Vikings tailgate!
Welcome aboard...now while I am reading your contribution get on a mop and clean those nasty bathrooms. :)
Welcome...great community here. Look forward to your postings
Thanks Matt - good read. I think our past troubles in Chicago are silly some seasons when we have been clearly capable of beating the team. Regardless of QB, I see this as the week we finally prove we can win in Chicago, even after a decade of losses.
The Bears are simply not that good. How good is the rookie? Who really knows. But, if he can scorch us, then the Vikings will be in full decline. Hard to believe Zimmer will have a plan that can't rattle him.

24/13 Bears huh?
I got it a closer game; 19/17 Bears win. While the Vikings D continues to prove if we score over 21?
We'll win more than not (22/3 in Zimmer's Tenure).
God I hope the Bears don't win this game. I think the Bears fans I know only take joy in trying to make fans of other teams miserable.
I'm saying the Vikings win, 24-10 because They are able to put pressure on the rookie QB.
If the Bears OLine is completely healthy and not missing anyone, they are a solid unit and will make life difficult for our pass rushers to get pressure on Trubisky with just the front four. If we have to Blitz to get pressure, we will be in for a long night. The Bears running game is one of the best, and Howard gashed us big time last year. Add in a slippery back like Cohen and we will have our hands full. Trubisky was effective in the preseason because he can move well out of pocket and can extend plays when things break down. That is exactly the kind of QB that gives us trouble. I'm not feeling good about this game whether Bradford returns or not. I think the Bears will rally around their Rookie QB and he will make enough plays along with their running game to win a close one.
