If kid wasn't booted, every kid on the opposing side will be crashing his knees for payback.

Reading the comments it sounds like things escalated to this point through cheap shots by the opposing player. Nothing can condone intent to injure, but if true imo this officiating crew and the coaches have to be taken to task.
Coaches watch film, they see cheap shit and it doesn't just start over night it builds. Ultimately the refs need to do their jobs as well, not playing to th fans or cheerleaders not turning thier backs to players etc.
I've seen a nasty turn in HS athletics in the last 20 years and it doesn't seem to be changing for the better.
