One big difference on Sunday will be Cashman, who was the Vikings' leading tackler when he went down with turf toe just before the Week 7 loss to Detroit.

This time, Cashman is playing and playing well. He led the Vikings with 11 tackles against the Packers, including 1.5 sacks and an impact that went beyond the box score.

“Natural leadership,” Flores said of Cashman. “A way of bringing people together. He’s very smart. He knows how to communicate with the various people ... whether it’s D-line, whether it’s an edge guy, whether it’s a safety, whether it’s a corner.

So, his position is one that he’s involved with coverage, involved with the run game, he’s involved with some of the pass rush. ... He’s been a key member of the defense and will continue to be that.”

Cashman is also a leading mind for a shapeshifting defense that prides itself on confusing quarterbacks and offensive line protection plans. The Lions offense also likes to trick opponents from time to time.

But the Vikings linebacker said this time of year isn’t about subterfuge.

“That’s the thing with the season,” Cashman said. “All the film is out there for the most part. But what it comes down to late in the year is play style and execution. Because everything is in. Every team, their identity is formed. It all comes down to play style and execution.”

Meaning: Just stop Jahmyr Gibbs.

I thought I was talking football on a football board.  it would be something if I was making mountains out of molehills, but as we have now seen ( and I think we will likely see it again very soon) he isnt fixed, better, but not fixed.  he isnt the kind of guy that you plan a future around for your franchise,  his game has some big chinks and they will only get more apparent as the competition and the stakes ratchet up, and he doesnt have the weapons around him that he does.( which he wont have if the team is paying him 40+ per year)   I still like him at a budget price on a tradeable contract,  but no way would I consider a longer term deal with market money like many have suggested.

Bitter has been blowing up for a long time now. Seems like a million 13" fish. Lots of sorting to get a decent size limit. My son and I had a couple of 200 fish days up there in October. Just got back from Lake of the Woods a couple days ago and heading up to Bigstone in 3 weeks. And I prefer to drink my wild turkey! I have the damn things in my yard down here in Nebraska too. Sorry to derail the thread.

I am sorry if it wasnt you,  I thought it was you and Sticky that got a little twisted up a week or 2 ago when I was noting SDs errant throws and the IOL issues after a win.  If it wasnt you its my bad,  as a way of saying I am sorry,  you can come shoot one of the 70+ "wild" turkeys I have running around my place... we good?
