Why the F would he go to Atlanta of all places?  I guess its better than N.Carolina. But not better than SD.

Maybe he got the promise to bring KC down there as a FA?  :p

I have Atlanta pegged as a top destination for Kirko if he hits FA.

Highly doubt he succeeds unless Brady is joining him

Why the hell not? He doesn't really have any pressure for anything at this point. Sure he would like to win a Super Bowl without Brady but he can start fresh anywhere. Maybe a change of scenery or going somewhere warm could be the ticket. Maybe his conversations with Arthur Blank got the adrenaline flowing.

Belichick is toast. 71 yrs. old starting a reconstruction project where he doesn't relate with players or staff. He'll separate some dopey owner from his money for 2 years before being proven to be a fraud. It's really absurd.

The chargers are going to have to cut a lot of dead weight this offseason. Way over the cap before the year starts. Atlanta has more pieces in place to compete minus the QB as of today.

Yup.

Their 2024 purge is gonna be as bad as Vikings 2023= lots of veterans get cut.

I think this is a done deal. He'll be the HC of the Falcons.

With Belichick, who will almost certainly want a veteran QB, the Falcons are probably our biggest competition for the services of Kirk Cousins. And that's a pretty decent team. Good OL, good back, they need a receiver to pair with London. If they sign Cousins and draft a game-changer 8, they could turn things around pretty quickly.

I don't think KAM is going to get into a bidding war for Kirk.

I think this is a desperation move by Atlanta.
He's not proven to go to the promised land with anybody but Brady.
He had too much control (over the roster) in NE.  Kraft recognized that.  Is he asking for that in Atlanta too?
Will it sell tickets in 2024?
At 71, how much gas in the tank does someone still have?  It takes a rare individual (I.e. Pete Carroll) to have that energy level of a 50 year old.
The current oldest coach in the NFL is Andy Reid at 65, then John Harbaugh at 61.
Mike McCarthy and Todd Bowles are both 60.  After that every NFL coach is in their 50s or younger.
Would he bring in younger assistant coaches and OC/DC to allow him to be the brain trust reporting to him?
I just think the bus for Belichick has left the station.

Agree. I think if Kirk remains unsigned on March 13th, he's probably gone. I do think it's likely the Vikings offer him what they think is a competitive offer though. Will it be enough to persuade Kirk to not even take a look at what's behind door number one? Dunno.

You would think a team who just went through a season like ours would understand the importance of having a competent QB, but we'll see.

I think Atlanta needs to have a good season to keep the fans coming back, so it may not be a good time to hire an up and coming young coach that may need a couple of seasons to turn it around.

If they hire Bill most likely his entire staff from NE will join him which would make a smooth transition.  But I do think the bus has left the station and Bill is still at the ticket counter trying to decide how to buy a ticket through the Greyhound app.

He's still a great defensive mind.  I'm curious what the interview consists of.  "So Bill why would you be a good NFL head coach?"

Not disagreeing with the rest of your post at all.

But just looking at this snippet.  This is a very restrictive list and it's probably not a good argument because if that's your criteria you probably aren't going to have a HC at all.

If you are looking at all coaches in history who've made it to two SBs, you have a list of 25 HC.  Most of those guys are from a long time ago.  Of active coaches, that list has dwindled down to 5 guys.  If you narrow that list down to just active coaches that have made it to two or more SBs, with at least 2 different QBs, Andy Reid and Sean McVay.  If you're looking at guys who've won 2 SBs, with 2 different QBs, there are no active HCs that have done that.  If your list is active HC's that are on the market who've been to 2 SBs, it's Belichik and Carroll, and I'm not sure Carroll is actively looking for a job outside of the non-coaching job he was given.

Probably more like "Bill, history shows you're one crap-ass drafter. Maybe the worst in the NFL. How much control do you want?"

Or they are picking his brain on what he sees as the needs if the team.
I agree that he is not a good fit. This has nothing to do with his abilities but the current capabilities of the Falcons roster

Kirks wife's family is from that area too and they spend part of the off-season down there.

Atl is absolutely a landing spot for Kirko. I believe they have the cap space too.

Vikings have less than 2 mos to get a deal done.

Kirk would be the perfect QB for Bill. And the team would be an immediate NFC contender, especially if active in free agency. Its 100% a possibility.
