Nix only left if we don’t trade into top 5
I actually think Williams, Maye, Penix, Daniels and McCarthy will be gone the first 5 or 6 picks. Harrison Jr and maybe an edge or OT slide in, but we will not be getting any of those 5 without a huge cost.
Kirk is likely out as we chose to let him get to FA. Going to be very interesting and tenure defining how Kwesi handles this.
Trade for Fields?, Huntley Howell, Daniel Jones? Bridge with Passtronaut or some other castoff?
Rubber is sure gonna meet the road with Kwesi and team cause either he goes and gets his guy and gives away this and next years draft; Rolls the dice on Nix or the same ilk; Or he goes to a bridge dude that will likely struggle nearly as much as Mullens.
I think out of all these options i would try to get Howell.
The top 3, Williams, Maye and Daniels will go 1, 2 3. I like Penix but he's certainly got his issues which pushes him down the board. McCarthy hasn't declared yet that I know of and is raw. You only draft McCarthy if you can sit him for a year or 2. Nix has flashes, but then has times where you're left shaking your head. I can't believe we'd trade up for any of Penix, McCarthy or Nix.
I wonder where Will Levis would slot with this bunch— both as a prospect and as the player we’ve seen.
I think I’d put JJM as QB3 or 4 as of this moment. But that could change as soon as tonight. Wild one game can mean that much but I go back to watchig Stroud vs Georgia last year and being in awe. Two guys have the chance to really affect their stock tonight. Should be fun and hopefully it’s a good game. I don’t care who wins.
Nope, no way. Never happen. There's the top 3 in tier one and then a step down.
You gotta have a willing trade partner and the conviction to move-up for someone.
Last year they had the conviction, but couldn't find a dance partner.
They may have a shot at the #4 or #5 slot (Zona, Chargers), I dont see any of the top 3 willing to move out of spot as they are as qb needy (or more) than the Vikings.
Where's the next Teddy? that's the type the Vikings go for.
I think you're seeing this through a purple lens. No doubt, three of those QBs could go early, but there are a few pretty good players in this draft who don't play QB. For example, most big boards have WR Marvin Harrison Jr. as the top prospect in this class. There are a couple other WRs and a couple tackles who will figure in as well.

Agree.
I think tonight we will see a contrast in QB's similar to the Stroud/Bryce Young. I see the potential for Penix to look like Stroud and McCarthy to look like a good college game manager. No idea which "team" will win but I think we will see a clear winner in terms of NFL QB.

I think Williams, Maye and Daniels go Top 5. There is a sweet spot from picks 4 - 7 with teams that might not be looking at QB with other needs. So if Daniels is there at 4 do we have the conviction to make the move? I hope we do, I like Daniels.
If we just stay at 11 we might have Penix, Nix and JJ there for us. I am not really a JJ fan, I guess we will see more tonight? I think I lean Nix at 11 over Penix only because of his lack of injury history and his more college games played (because of injury;). Plus Nix's completion % this past season was a college high of almost 78% with a 9.5 avg yards per pass..wow! I know the critics say he has a much lower big play completion percentage then some others but when you put up the stats above does it matter? Maybe becuase of his accuracy and high yards per completion he didn't need to throw 40 yard bombs as often, maybe?
I would strongly look at Daniels and a move up. Then Nix and then Penix at this point.
Here are some numbers I put together for all to see/use. I strongly consider the progression from junior year to senior year and all three have that but Daniels dual threat is off the charts and I like the jump Nix made this season.

watch Washington's Rome Adunze tonight, if he goes off like he can, he could certainly push his name into that conversation, kid is fearless and tough as hell.

Odunze has been consensus for a top pick pretty much all year.

I havent seen him in the top 10 though. A big game tonight and he may be moving on up. Ive seen some that dont have him even as the 2nd receiver off the board. I havent watched a lot of MHj, but I wouldnt be scared at taking Adunze at any position, I think his game is as good as any ones. the kid just plain has the looks of a guy with a long NFL career IMO.... but what do I know, I didnt think Addison was going to be worth a shit as a blocker, but I watched him specifically on a couple plays yesterday and he stone walled a guy on one play, got his shit handed to him on the next one, but that was against a guy about 90#s heavier and he already had a bit of head start.

There was some talk about him creeping into the top 10 for some time from some of the sites and chatter I have seen. I actually watched most of the Huskies games this year as they were the college team I latched onto for the season. I agree with you, he has all the tools, just think that the team doesn't get much national run, and now the rest are starting to catch up.
This draft isn't just top heavy with quality QB prospects. Compared to recent & future drafts, it has quality QB prospects throughout. One of the reasons that we hired KOC was to draft & develop our QBOTF & we have to trust his judgement & give him an opportunity to do so. We have to get out of the mindset that if we don't draft a QB in the first, then the draft was a disaster. What if KOC doesn't like Penix, Nix or JJM to run his offense, but he does like Cam Ward of WSU, or Michael Pratt of Tulane or Jordan Travis of FSU? All of these QBs have enough talent to start in this league although all will need some level of development.
I do however think that it will be mistake if we don't draft a QB in April. One with a higher ceiling than Hall. Because looking at the 2025 draft, which QBs would you target outside of Sanders & Beck of UGA?....and if Kirko returns next season, we'll have a lower draft pick while trying to find a QB in a more shallow draft pool.
@"Knucklehead" said:they obviously thought Jaren Hall was that late round guy that would be able to run the O, but yet in a meaningless game to end the season we saw Mullins get the nod, the fact that with nothing on the line they went with Mullings doesnt speak very well of Hall, or their ability to find that mid round QB that just needs a little seasoning IMO.This draft isn't just top heavy with quality QB prospects. That's really hard to do.

The closer anyone scrutinize his resume the more it will be understood he has everything going for him.
He's the guy I want the Vikings to draft. 100%
IMO Nix' game is comparable to Drew Brees, doggedly fundamental in mechanics .
He frustrates and beats defenders because he gives no tells since his mechanics are so tight and consistent.
He'll take his lumps as a rookie, but he'll start next year and win games.
I would be ok with Nix as long as Penix is gone.

Insightful. id like to see what you have seen. in the limited time i have watched, he reminds me quite a bit of Ponder. I would like to see his pocket awareness and reads progression. He obviously checks the boxes on size, arm and athletic ability
