Has to be tough for Carolina.....
You give up the farm to get Bryce Young and CJ Stroud looks unbelievably good for a rookie. Ouch.
Also imagine if Caleb Williams turns into the player he is projected to be they could have kept all those picks and taken him.
@"JR44" said: Also imagine if Caleb Williams turns into the player he is projected to be they could have kept all those picks and taken him.Good point and has to be another big point of aggravation for the franchise....although they may have won more games with a band-aid vet QB starting all year instead of Young.
It looks really bad now, REALLY bad, but things have a way of turning around.
I wish I had a dollar for everyone who pissed and moaned two years ago that we didn't take rookie sensation and Pro Bowler Mac Jones. You can probably add Justin Fields to that list as well. Jordan Davis. Jameson Williams....
Chicago got lucky by trading with such a crap team. With the 1st pick in this draft and three franchise QBs in the class, the Bears could trade Fields for even more draft capital, sign Kirk Cousins, then trade from 1 to 3 for a ransom, then trade from 3 to 7 for another ransom and STILL have two picks in the top 10.
But knowing the Bears they'll either keep Fields or Caleb Williams won't sign with them because they're a trash org. They'll find someway to fuck it up.
Ok, so it's either make the playoffs and watch KOC go into conserve mode when up by 3 in the 3rd quarter OR watch KAM trade the 9th pick to the Lions for a ham sandwich.Hmm, what to root for?
Tepper is an asshat and deserves what is happening
Still blows my mind there was even a conversation between Stroud and Bryce Young. All you had to do was watch Stroud play Georgia to be like, "yeah, that's the guy." It was that obvious IMO

Reportedly Tepper liked Young so…

And the Texans organization will be sending him a Christmas card every year for the entirety of Stroud's career. He'll also be receiving a Christmas Card from the Bears, who swindled him out of the top pick THIS YEAR. Just a colossal cluster on every level in Carolina

Dude, you talked up Mac Jones. You drank the Kool- Aid on him. Why you keep propping up Young is beyond me. He's garbage. He's a tiny little dude that won't do shit.

I watched some of that Texans/Colts last night.Stroud had some really nice reads/throws. Super high ceiling on the kid and Ryans is a good HC too.
Might have been a lot more entertaining if it was Stroud vs Richardson.
I called that trade a daylight robbery for Chicago when it happened. Then Carolina made it even worse taking Young over Stroud.
Oh, and I hope Adam Theilen's wife watched every game this year.
The rumor that I heard was that the organization made that trade to draft Stroud, but they were overruled by Tepper who wanted Young.

I'm not propping up Bryce Young. Just saying that it's way too early to say his career is over. I mean, listen to yourselves. It's ridiculous. He's played one year on a crap team. Everyone overreacts about every god damn thing.Same with Mac Jones. Everyone thought we'd missed big on him when he had a good rookie year. The only thing I said was that he shouldn't be declared this great pick after one season. It's not like there aren't a dozen examples of this.
Tepper just fired the g.m. Until he fires himself it's going to keep being ugly.
Too early to put a tombstone on Young’s career but yeah, Carolina fudged up epically bad. They’re the worst team in the league two years in a row (HARD to do) and as of now have little (ha) to show for it.
They’re a poorly run organization who seems to have reached a new low. Brock Purdy bailed the Niners out of their bungle so it’s possible Carolina turns things around in a hurry but yeah right now it’s grim. Their division is still bad and they’ll have another easy schedule but roster wise it’s a mess.
Their best two players of the past 5 years were both traded away (DJ Moore, CMC). Tough scene.

Hey, lets not overreact to me overreacting. I've got a CFB championship game to get through yet today and you know damn well that bitter disappointment awaits me and all Michigan fans! I'm on my own last nerve!
This is why you don’t go all in and trade a bunch of picks
for one guy. Drafting is an inaccurate
science at best. Even the best drafting
teams are wrong a lot of the time.
Spending a lot of draft capital in one player puts a tremendous amount
of pressure on that pick being right, because you’re going to have a hard time
surrounding them with a talented supporting cast, because draft picks are the
fundamental method of building a roster.
I would much rather draft the 4th best QBs 3
years in a row, than spend those same 3 draft picks getting the “best” guy in
one draft. I’m all for trading up, but
only small or moderate trades that you can afford to be wrong on.

Well, I have no dog in that race. But I like that it could very well be a battle for QB4.

I agree! Both of those QB's could be #4 in the stacking. I suspect Penix might be rated higher, but who knows.
@StickyBun, I think Michigan wins this one - FWIW. I dont think Huskies have seen a D like Michigans.

If you look at the analytics, it will tell you the best thing to do, every year, is to trade down. I think QBs are different though. If you need a QB and there's one who fits what you're trying to do, you have to go get him and just trust the process, for better or worse.
Still, the best QB from each draft is rarely the 1st one taken. Herbert was 3rd, Love 4th, Hurts 5th, Allen 3rd, Mahomes 2nd, Prescott 8th, etc.
