The Vikings currently sit at 12, which is exactly where the 49ers were in 2021, when they traded their current 3rd rounder, their 2022 1st and their 2023 1st to the Dolphins to move to number 3 to take Trey Lance.

According to the trade value chart, the difference in draft capital from the 12 slot to the 9 slot is 150 pts, equivalent to a 3rd rounder, which is good because the Vikings don't have one. At any rate, if history holds, and the Vikings want to move to 3 from 9 they will be looking at giving up 1st rounders in both of the next two drafts.

If the Vikings aim a little lower (say, for Penix), they could move from 12 to 7 and not give up a 1st rounder. In 2018, the Bills moved from 12 to 7 to draft Josh Allen by giving up two current 2nd rounders. Vikings have only one, but you can do the math.

However, if the Vikings win and some other crap happens, they could drop as low as 16, probably rendering a trade to 3 cost-prohibitive, but not so a trade into the top 10. In 2011, Jacksonville moved from 16 to 10 for Blaine Gabbert by and trading only their 2nd rounder. In 2018, Cards moved from 15 to 10 for Josh Rosen by giving up a 3rd and a 5th.

Barring something unexpected, Minnesota should be able to move up if they choose to.

Soo after we beat Detroit tomorrow (because that's how it will work out), we'll be drafting mid round somewhere when the best thing for us to do would be to lose the fucking game, secure a top 10 pick and the ability to potentially move up. If there's anything you can count on in the screwed-up history of this franchise, it's that we will win games when it is completely in our best interest to lose them.

The Lions OL will steamroll the purple, Mullins will turn the ball over multiple times, & the sun will set in the west…  ;) B)

You haven't been watching this team very long, have you...? In a meaningless game that only benefits us to lose, Ty Chandler goes for over 100, Mullens hits Mundt for a couple touchdowns, and the Vikings beat an uninterested Lions team 24-21

Only since 1967, we’ll see, did you hear Booth is starting opposite Evans…?
