It was cute and fun for 2 weeks.

Now it's time to see what we got in Hall the rest of the year...

Its an important step to future QB plans.

More important than a wild-card tix.

Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

I don't think the team views Hall as the future. Or even a part of the mix next year in a real way. JMO.

Agreed. Fans seem much higher on him than anything we've seen or heard from KO or the FO.

I don't think anyone knows yet, even the coaching staff. It's just impossible to tell what you have by watching a guy run the scout team.

And that's all PF is asking for. A chance for Hall to get out there and show what he's got. Vikings can approach next year with a bit more clarity if we can just get a good look at Hall. And remember, he knows the offense.

Nobody expects him to be the guy. But it might be helpful to know if he can be a legit QB2.

Can anyone of us honestly say we have a solid understanding of the Vikings QB Plan for next year and beyond? If they wanted to roll with Kirk, they would have taken his offer in the offseason. I think they like Kirk the QB, but they don't like the business side of Kirk and that is why they took a pass. Even with the Achilles discount, I can't imagine getting him cheaper than $30 Million guaranteed for 3 years with incentives that get him closer to $40 Million if he recovers well and performs at a high level. We can't afford to pay that, sign JJ, Darrisaw, Hunter, and fill out the rest of the roster IMO.

This is how I’m starting to feel. Obviously KOC had to speak well of him to the media the week after Kirk’s injury because he was literally the only QB left on the active roster. But the more you look at what’s happened since, I don’t think they feel like he’s got what it takes or at minimum is ready to take the job.

If they really did believe in Hall, they wouldn’t have traded for a QB vs signing a backup off the street. He also would have been #2 with Dobbs on a short leash as soon as he was cleared.

If Hall isn’t the QB coming out of the bye, it tells you everything the Vikings actually feel about him.

Good post, man. Post more, not just when they are losing!  ;)

I just don't think he feels real good about any of them because none of them are Kirk, who was a safety blanket for KOC while he learned on the job. The Vikings had to acquire a quarterback with the Mullens back injury and they were able to acquire a quarterback with starting experience for virtually nothing, who had the ability pick up the offense quickly. But Dobbs is a career backup, and we are seeing the reasons he has been a career backup.

I think regardless, Hall needs to get back in there. Of all the quarterbacks on the roster, he is the only one under contract for next season and we have to see what we have in him as a player moving forward. We are still technically in the mix with 5 games left in the season so let this team sink or swim with Hall.

It didn't cost them anything to trade for Dobbs.  Anything that was on the street after Kirks injury, well they were on the street for a reason.

I have not posted on here in a long time. Hey everyone! I was so disgusted by Dobbs' performance last night. He looked lost. He looked like a bad high school QB who stares down his receivers. Even more, when he did then throw the ball (after staring them down), it was often inaccurate. He had 4 INTs but should have had 6. One game should not define one's career, but his performance was breathtakingly ugly.

You may be right. But I disagree. I feel they traded for Dobbs only because we were out of quarterbacks. Kirk gone, Mullens on IR, all we had left was Hall as the starter and Akers as the emergency QB. Dobbs was brought in to backup Hall at least until Mullens was ready to come off IR.
Dobbs came in and had a hot hand. Unlike the way Zimmer would criticize his quarterback for making something out of nothing, KOC decided to embrace it and ride Dobbs as far as he would take them. It was a short ride. What happens after the bye will be telling. If Hall comes in, they will feel he has an upside worth seeing. If Mullens starts, then Hall is an afterthought. If Dobbs is starting, then i need to find something different to do on Sundays.

Clearly, we have no idea what the plan is as of today, because a lot has happened since they gave us any clues.  Kirk got injured and is in rehab.  We brought Dobbs in.  Furthermore, a lot more can happen before decisions start being made.  Dobbs, Hall, and Mullens all have the opportunity to make a case on why they provide more value than Kirk does.

That said, I think the plan before the season was pretty
clear.  We don’t want to invest in a 3
year deal for Kirk, because we’re looking for our QB of the future on a rookie
deal and giving Kirk a 3 year deal kills any potential benefit of having that
rookie deal QB.  Assuming Dobbs and Hall
don’t wow the team and Kirk passes all the health tests, I would imagine we
follow the original plan of attempting to resign Kirk for 1-2 years and then going
to get our QBOTF from the draft and then probably try to resign Dobbs and Hall
at minimal contracts to bring into camp or be our backup QB.  I assume Cousins will submit to a 2 year deal if the per year is close to adequate.
