Due exclusively to the fact that my fantasy team is on its death bed and I needed a good day from Thielen, I watched this horrible horrible game yesterday and came away with a few thoughts.

1. The Vikings are a well coached team on both sides of the ball.
2. Offensive lines are important.
3. It's too early to call him a bust but Bryce Young may never overcome his size limitations.
4. The Panthers offense is a mess top to bottom

When the owner leaves the locker room after the game swearing, you know somebody is getting fired.

Not picking Stroud will haunt this franchise.

I think its more like picking Young will haunt this franchise for a few years.  Stroud could come back next year and do nothing, but taking a diminutive QB as high as they did, in a league of monsters, just doesnt make much sense IMO.

I think it already is. But there's still time for both to reverse courses. Stroud looks great, but he also has a cadre of good young receivers and a very good offensive line. Tank Dell is every bit as good as our rookie.

Agreed with all of this. Young looks really bad but there is zero team around him. It's actually shocking how little talent is on that roster. And Carolina has no first round pick this year. You'd think Michael Jordan owned them too with how bad it is. Best of luck to whatever coach they hire but without a massive turnaround he'll probably wind up being the guy before the guy if I had to guess.

Rumor was the coaches/draft department wanted Stroud, the owner wanted Young.

I just have a hard time taking a guy that has to play behind monster sized men,  that are less than shoulder height to those men.  I prefer QBs that are over 6'3,  but really shy away from any under 6'1",  I know I would miss out on a few good ones,  but I just think being able to see the field from an unobstructed vantage point is huge for a QB,  not one trying to read a defense through the windows of his OL.

The league has lost all patience with building a successful team.  Quarterbacks and head coaches have become a disposable commodity in todays league.  If they don't produce in one year or at the most two its time to move on to the next guy.  Teams like the Steelers and Seahawks with Tomlin and Carroll are the exception sticking with a coach as long as they have.

I still can't believe there was even a comparison or conversation about who should be the number 1 pick between Stroud and Young. You only really needed to watch one game, and one game only, Stroud versus Georgia...that's it. The guy was masterful against a roster of NFL talent. Alabama quarterbacks don't pan out (normally) and you are trying to buck 40 years or more of NFL data that says small quarterbacks generally don't work in the NFL.

The Panthers are in bad shape. Reich was supposed to be a tailor made coach to get Young and this team up to speed, so much for that. Again this has nothing to do with Kwesi vs Poles or anything like that, but Poles robbed Carolina in that trade, regardless if he is eventually fired himself or not

I hope we can add KOC to that list. I think he finally slays the dragon in MN

Carolina tried to hire Detroit’s young offensive coordinator Johnson for their head coach before hiring Reich, he elected to stay w/ the Lions, prescient…

To be fair, how many OSU QBs have gone on to be successful in the NFL? Agree on size, but admit I wasn't sold on Stroud either going into the draft..
