Vikings, Kirk Cousins say his Achilles tendon surgery was a successVikings doctor Chris Coetzee led the operation to repair the quarterback's torn right Achilles tendon in Eagan this morning.

By  Ben Goessling Star TribuneNovember 1, 2023 — 10:00am

Vikings doctor Chris Coetzee, who specializes in foot and ankle surgery, led the operation at Twin Cities Orthopedics on Wednesday. The Vikings placed Cousins on injured reserve Tuesday; he will miss the rest of the season after surgery.

"Surgery was a success!" Cousins posted on social media. "Grateful for your prayers, Dr. Coetzee's abilities, and our medical team. Would appreciate continued prayers! One day at a time…"

I think modern medical science has made this injury just another rehab situation. 20 years ago, it was a career ender or damn close. Now players are coming back quicker and no worse for wear. Look at Brian O'Neill.

wasnt ONeill still finishing up rehab through training camp this year?  so basically he took about 8-9 months to recover enough to play?   I would think they would be more cautious with a huge guy trying to anchor against other huge guys,  but this was also kirks plant foot so that might get some more attention and concern.  I know Rogers thought he could be back in about 3-4 months, but no idea if that was legit or him just blowing smoke.
