Tuesday 4 p.m. Eastern NFL Trading Deadline Rumor Thread
𝗥𝗘𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧: The #Vikings are rumored to want a first round pick for superstar pass rusher Danielle Hunter, per @TonyPauline
— JPA (@jasrifootball) October 30, 2023
However, sources tell Pauline that Minnesota would be willing to come off their first-round asking price if they can get a comparable offer of day two… pic.twitter.com/cJcoYtRmXv
I think the most likely action for the Vikings today is nothing at all.

Cousins uncertainty really clouds this now as I doubted they could keep all 4 of the big contracts they are facing.

Agreed and I've said as much in another thread. Put this up just in case and for any other noteworthy trades around the league.
I'm ok moving Hunter for a low first. I doubt any team is willing to do the trade without a contract in place for that price. I do think the better long term option is to just resign him for 4 years. But if Hunter has told them he's gone anyway? Then go for it and trade him.
KJ Osborne, Ezra Cleveland, Jordan Hicks & Harrison Smith seem to be the only other players that have any value even though its low round picks for all of them.
If there's no intention to bring Hunter back on an extension, nows the time to move him. We aren't going anywhere and he can't be franchised after the season. The Vikings need to get honest with themselves (and the Wilfs) on where they are at going forward and move accordingly
It's 10:00 am, KAM has 6 more hours to do something stupid.

Or.....

Great quote from KOC on the duality of a 'competitive rebuild' and the challenges.
Is it worth Vikings trading Danielle Hunter? What to do at QB?"Kevin O’Connell, the Minnesota Vikings head coach, clarified something Monday afternoon. He had been talking about his team’s future at quarterback. That conversation morphed into a discussion about how he and general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah are working together to allocate the team’s financial resources.
“We signed up to live in this dual world that can sometimes feel like it’s competing against each other a little bit,” O’Connell said.
The “dual world” is the team-building approach Adofo-Mensah previously called a “competitive rebuild.” From the time the two men arrived in early 2022, they have attempted to build the organization by winning in the present and optimizing for the future. O’Connell’s comment cemented the reality that, as sensible as the approach may be, it’s also quite challenging, especially at times like these.
The Vikings are 4-4. They occupy the seventh seed in the NFC. And they no longer have their franchise quarterback.
Finding a new premium quarterback would require major capital, much of which is being saved for the future. Is it worth opening the treasure chest now for a confident team with a chance to compete for the playoffs? Or would Minnesota be better off saving its assets for the years ahead".
Dolphins gave up a 1st for Bradley Chubb last year and then did an extension and Chubb is not nearly as good as Hunter, so no way would I take less than a first. Like the Dolphins did a team can do an extension so it is not just a rental. We can't afford to lose him as we have limited impact players on defense, but realistically we are not making a deep run and we are likely going to need draft capital to move up to get one of the better QBs.

I'd say: 60% Hunter gets re-signed at some point (W) 30% Hunter walks in FA (Big L) 10% Hunter gets traded today (W)
The VikeFans Twitter/X account states they've been hearing the team is trying hard to extend Hunter.
Looks like Bears are trading a 2nd round draft pick for Montez Sweat. FYI. Why?? This is going to be a very HIGH 2nd rounder as well.
Trade: Commanders and Bears have agreed to a trade that is expected to send DE Montez Sweat to the Chicago for a 2024 second-round pick, per sources. Sweat is in the last year of his contract, and the Commanders are opting for a draft pick now. Chicago beefs up its line. pic.twitter.com/Hd7jtqDtWY

According to @JFowlerESPN there’s almost “no chance” the Vikings move Danielle Hunter at the trade deadline. #skol

They may have to lean on the defense the rest of the season so the more play makers they have the better.
@"Greylock" said:Agreed. And going forward next year requires some talent as well. Trading away premium talent that understands the defense seems like a bad idea.@"StickyBun" said: https://twitter.com/VikesCentral/status/1719381483066917158 Good, he is leading the league in sacks and the defense looks like it is starting to figure out how to play Flores defense. Yep for a 3rd round pick, the Commodes have now traded their 2 stud DE’s for a high 2nd(Bears) & probably a low 3rd(Niners)! Good luck Riverboat Ron…! B)
