A worried mom
So I got a call today that my son was in the hospital. The drive was agonizing to get there and seemed to take forever. It turns out he had a seizure but no one knows why. He has an appointment with a neurologist scheduled. I was so grateful to see him, there aren't enough words to express that. I slowly exhaled the breath I was holding. But he was alert and responsive when I got there so there is that. Now we wait for his appointment and go from there.
You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it. — Robin Williams
Happy to hear he was better when you arrived. Have a few friends that have seizures and they are able to manage them. Prayers for your family.
I'm sorry to hear this Vikergirl. I'm glad he was alert and responsive when you got there. That must have been a relief, if even for a short while. I hope they're able to determine the cause and his future remains bright.
Positives thoughts for your son, VG. Hoping for the best test results.
I am sorry to hear this. As a parent, it is such a helpless feeling (at any age they are) to see them injured or sick and not to know what caused it. The doctors will figure it out, but we have you in our thoughts until they get it all straightened out.
oh VG my heart goes out to you. that drive must have felt like forever. im praying a lot lately. I'll include your son in them. let us know what the Dr. says.
Thanks everyone. I appreciate the prayers and positive thoughts. The follow up isn't until Friday so for now we wait. I am so glad I can come here and replenish the well.
Quite the scare, VG. Good luck on Friday. Hoping for the best.
My thoughts are with you VG. My son has a friend that had this ... whatever medicine they gave him worked. And he is 100% healthy.
Prayers for your family VG...may I ask how old your son is?
also, hate to pry, but has there been any recent medication, or change in medication?
long story short, but some pharmaceuticals can really do a number on younger children.
my wife was experiencing all sorts of issues a while back. Come to find out it was all related to her blood pressure meds. She switched meds, and t took about a month for things to finally improve, but some of those meds.......ugh! Good grief.
Please don't take this as I'm prying, just want to help
Try not to dwell on the negatives here, this could be nothing but an isolated incident triggered by something completely random.
Until you know you have something to fear, try not to let fear consume you. Be positive and know that we are all praying for your family.
So sorry to hear this VG. I echo Vanguard's questions...look at any changes that might have triggered it, to find a cause. Hoping and praying that your son does not have a repeat episode.
Thanks again purple peeps. I am not ruling anything out. I am looking at any and every possibility. It's going to be a long couple of days. I talked with my sister for a bit. She is a doctor and gave me additional advice. I am going to talk with some nurses and doctors at work as well. Thanks for the input. You have helped a great deal. I am not going to give in to worry or fear or worst case scenarios. We'll figure it out one way or another. His CAT scan was normal.
Not knowing has to be the worst. Prayers headed your way for you and your son.
God bless, VG...prayers and best wishes forthcoming.
Sorry to hear this VG, but glad to hear the CAT scan was normal. Hoping that you and your son have the best outcome possible on Friday.
Hooe you find good new for your son and sending you and him prayers.
