I saw the Vikings released their opening day depth chart, and while it really doesn't mean a whole lot, I did find a couple things interesting;

- Jonathan Bullard is listed as a starter with Jordan Phillips listed as the starting nose tackle. Tonga listed as a backup

- Starting LB's are listed as Hicks and Asamoah. Pace listed as a backup.

I really would have thought both Pace and Tonga would be starters

Didn't see this before posting mine.

KOC said there might be situations where we would see all three--Hicks, Asasmoah and Pace--on the field together. We also have to remember that while Pace was fantastic and I expect him to start at some point this year, he got much of his time with the 1s while Asamoah was out with an injury.

Agree on Tonga though. I think it might just be situational though.

That D line is about the most barren I have seen as a viking fan.

As a fan of this organization....how strange is that to say?

Take a look at Vikings drafts - when is the last time they spent a first on DL?

How long ago is 2013?

Before that? How about 2005 and Erasmus james?

That's one thing I hope they start changing moving forward.  If you look at the current NFC power houses (Philly and SF), they've all invested in their DL and pass rushers. Rick typically went for the flash with RBs, CBs, and WRs with his early picks.  Kwesi is following a similar path...  be nice to invest in the trenches at some point.

I completely agree, but Rick was able to hit on some really good defensive lineman later; B-Rob, Everson Griffen, Hunter. Also traded a 1st round pick for Jared Allen. Sharrif Floyd was on his way to becoming a star until injury. Rick did some good things on the defensive line..
