Not that it matters, but I'm curious to see where he ranks among the highest paid TEs. Big diff between 1 and, say, 5.
The #Vikings and T.J. Hockenson agreed to terms on a contract extension that makes him one of the NFL’s highest-paid tight ends, sources tell me and @RapSheet.

Acquired from Detroit last fall, Hockenson has flourished in Minnesota. Now sticking around for the long haul. pic.twitter.com/U1UUPOdxEM

I wonder if those ear drops will start working today and he can start practicing with the team.

Goods news.
Wondering whether that will trigger a trade of Muse (and then a defensive player pick-up). I know there was speculation that the Vikes put Muse on the 53 as a hedge against Hock "holding out (with unspecified injury)" into the actual season.

Interesting. Yeah I could see that. 4 TEs did seem to be a little overkill.
At the end of the season, I wanna see if missing training camp due to prolonged negotiation has any ramifications.
Hope he kills it.
After committing what @AdamSchefter reports is $68.5 million over 4 years to T.J. Hockenson, the Vikings still need to get Justin Jefferson signed to an extension. Kwesi: "We've said it and will continue to say it. Justin is somebody we want around here for a really long time."

Highest paid TE in NFL history. He wanted to reset the market and he did.
Great news and a great player! It's amazing how much the Vikings
upgraded at TE after Smith got injured. Without even completely knowing
the playbook, Hock immediately made an impact and finished the season
with 86 receptions for 914 yards (over 500 with Vikings). The Vikes
have never seen a TE with over 900 yards since Joe Sensor in 1981.
Kwesi made the team much more dangerous with that awesome trade!
Is Hock's back starting to feel better now...?
I'm glad he got the extension, and I love what he adds to the offense, but I don't like the contract. He's not the best TE's in Football by a long shot. $17.125M per year is an overpay IMO.

Happens at every position and it's not going to ever stop. In three years, Hock's contract will rank 4th or 5th or even lower.
Love Hock as a player, but I still question how we fit all these contracts into the long term equation especially if we have to re-up Cousins on another extension. JJ, Darrisaw, Hunter is on a one year deal. That's a lot of cash and we still need upgrading at several positions. Was it the wisest thing to trade for a TE you knew you had to pay and reset the TE market on? It could be argued

If it's really $16.5M with UTBE incentives pushing it to $17.125 then Hockenson ranks 6th among active TEs in APY as percentage of cap https://t.co/Bcj6DiuQwp

@"greediron" said:I don't understand why we needed to prioritize his Contract now when the other Contracts that need to get done are higher in priority IMO. We had all the leverage. We could have let it play out this year and used the Franchise Tag next year. I know that would piss him and his agent off, but if he wants to sit out a year so be it. Look how well that worked out for Le'Veon Bell?. Besides JJ, they still need to deal with Kirk and his $28.5 Million in dead cap next year, plus Hunter's dead cap of almost $15 Million.@"supafreak84" said: Love Hock as a player, but I still question how we fit all these contracts into the long term equation especially if we have to re-up Cousins on another extension.
