Hockenson??
Warmed up with team but didn't participate in the night practice, similar to a previous practice I heard about .
Injury or contract related?
Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?
According to KOC it's some kind of illness he is getting over
Sounds like a hold-in. At camp but not risking injury before he signs the deal. This can't linger too much longer.

We traded a lot to get him and if it's only for last year and a "I'm here but not really here" 2023 then that trade-- which was a good one-- won't look so hot. I'm sure Hock knows all of this and is leveraging it for some cash.
Just friggin sign him. That was the point of trading for him. Get the damn ink on the paper and get him on the field. When you're done KAM, do the same for Jefferson.

Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson battling illness, which explains his recent absence
It has nothing to do with the fact that he hasn’t received a contract extension.

Talking to reporters before practice on Monday afternoon, head coach
Kevin O’Connell poured water on those flames, noting that Hockenson has
been battling an illness.
“He’s working his way back from that,” the coach said. “He will take part in the early part of practice (today).”
It’s
worth noting that Hockenson is set to make $9.3 million this season,
with nothing guaranteed beyond that at the moment. But after acquiring
Hockenson from the Detroit Lions last season, the Vikings likely will
work something out with him at some point.
Aside from Hockenson, who should be back sooner rather than
later, O’Connell said cornerback Andrew Booth Jr. will be a full
participant in practice going forward. He sat out practice toward the
end of last week after suffering a minor injury.

Minnesota Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson (center) stretches during the team’s practice at Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center in Eagan, Minnesota, on July 26, 2023.EAGAN, Minn. -- Minnesota Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson made some headlines after sitting out of team drills during last week’s night practice at TCO Performance Center. The rumors started to swirl over the weekend after he was spotted on the sidelines without pads. Was the 26-year-old Hockenson upset about not yet receiving a contract extension? Was that the reason he wasn’t practicing? Was he trying to make a statement? Not at all.MORE MINNESOTA VIKINGS COVERAGE:

He wore a No. 85 jersey and looked the part with his massive 6-foot-4, 225-pound frame standing out among the other receivers on the roster. That advantage vertically is something Harry, who the New England Patriots selected in the first round of the 2019 NFL draft, hopes to use as a way to stick on this roster. “I feel like this is a great opportunity to come out here and show what I can do,” he said. “I’m a big body who’s going to go up and get the ball when it’s in the air. I’m a red-zone guy who’s hard to bring (the ball) down. Just a big physical guy.” Asked if he feels behind everyone else after joining the Vikings a couple of weeks into training camp, Harry emphasized that he’s learning the playbook as quickly as possible. “I’m capable of picking it up,” he said. “It’s up to me to put some extra time in.”
Battling an illness... I heard he was sick of not getting a contract extension. :p

And what kind of sickness allows for stretching and conditioning but not team drills? Sounds like an injury or risk of injury sickness.
You guys could definitely be right but I do know a person can get a bad case of the flu, for instance, and it takes awhile to get back to full strength.
Guess time will tell.
Quit stringing him along - get it done.
jackasses
My view is that KOC said it is what it is. Illness, nothing severe.
Words matter. He was not vague.
Hock will be well paid this season. Keep in mind he would probably prefer to wait into this season, in hopes that he lights it up...which will only increase his stock. So his camp (agent) might be dragging their feet a tad. If I believed in myself, I probably would.
There is plenty of cap space for the 2024 season and beyond (still have to be judicious for this year...should keep some powder dry). Hock, JJ are two of the guys we want to lock up.
Hunter was only gonna make half what Hock was gonna make this year, no wonder he was grumpy.
I agree...these things seem to take care of themselves. The teams and their agents always try to maintain a "Don't blink first" attitude in negotiating these deals.
Having said that, I look at those big names who remain unsigned so far into camp...Cook, Zeke, Risner, Clowney...keep going

Very possible. Just seems the hold-in is the new thing.
