Per Rapoport: Vikings taking trade calls on Hunter

Simply not a great 3-4 edge.  you dont give him away, but a first and a second or 3rd  would give us alot of anmo to get our QBOTF 

Is this playing on loop?  Haven't we heard this since the end of the season?

IMHO this development was foreshadowed when Z'darius was sent to Cleveland.

Taking calls could mean a lot or it could mean nothing but hmm.
As a fan I understand I'm not entitled to know the direction this franchise is going in, but I hope KAM and crew know. From the outside it's hard to not think we're going to be middle of the pack / no man's land for yet another year.
Losing Z'darius, Thielen, Kendricks, maybe Cook, and maybe Hunter would be 5 of your top 10ish players and 3 of probably the top 5. Strong tanking signals. But on the flipside we keep Kirk around, sign Murphy, trade away some future picks... I just don't know.
Tank or try your darndest to make a run, I'm truly fine with either option. But this offseason is puzzling to me.

Just 28 years old but how soon will injuries catch up to him?  Maybe its time to get what you can for him instead of seeing injuries lower any trade value he has.

Well ensure you trade him to a bottom feeder if your all in on drafting a QB…!  ;) :p

yep  I hate going to a D you don't have the personnel to man then blowing up the roster to hope to fill the spots---typical face plant move
 

we've been competitive for pretty much the last decade,  maybe its time,  as long as we are going to blow it up might as well give Harry and any other long time sufferers their options to leave as well.  anybody still on a first contract though needs to be retained if they were to go that route.  Of course how will that affect getting guys to resign that are looking at a couple year rebuild?  Darrisaw, JJ, and TJ?

Really curious who leaked this info. Definitely could tell how serious the possibility of him being traded is.

You could wonder the same about Kirk Cousins, who is 35 and will also be looking to get paid after this season. It's why I say, if you trade Cook and Hunter, you might as well just move Cousins to the 49ers and recoup some draft picks because we aren't trying to be competitive and it's foolish to think otherwise

Not sure San Fran has the juice to give up for a Cousins trade. This isn't a Rams/Lions scenario.

But teams always get on the phones when contract talks stall on a player. Doesn't mean the Vikings intend to, or even want to, trade Hunter. But if they get an offer they can't refuse, they just might. Definitely makes for an easier path to the QBOTF in the '24 draft.

The complication I see is that teams who want Hunter at this point in the offseason are likely teams looking for that missing piece. Good teams. And the Vikings would obviously prefer to get a poorer team's 1st rounder. 

Looks like I'm in the minority here, But I would rather see DH extended. He's still young enough that he could be an effective pass rusher after the team goes thru a rebuild.

Hunter and his agent could be attempting to force a trade by asking for unrealistic extension demands and a refusal to report to training camp until a new deal or trade happens. After last year's defensive dumpster fire, he may not want any part of a 3-4 Scheme even with Flores running it. With all of the other Contracts we still have up in the air, I wouldn't be surprised if we traded him. Especially if Flores doesn't feel confident he will fit what he wants to do. Despite his improved stats the second half of the season, I still thought he didn't have much impact in the pass rush compared to his time under Zimmer.
