Will McDonald IV, Edge, Iowa State
With Hunter, Z and Davenport currently on the roster (for now), I think the odds of the Vikings taking an edge in the 1st round are low. Vikings didn't bring in too many edges for visits either.
However, Z is likely moved at some point. I don't think we trade Hunter, but it's certainly possible. In either case, Davenport is signed for only one year. Given the positional value of edge rushers in the NFL, this might be more of a need than some think.
If we take one early, Will McDonald is the one I want. At 6-4, 239, he's undersized and he needs more moves in his toolbox, but man can he bend and turn a corner. 4.6 forty, ridiculous 35 inch arms, 36-inch vert and 11' broad.
I watched him at the Senior Bowl and while his bull rush was worthless, nobody could block his speed rush. Consensus has him between 20 and 30 and in a couple years people are going to wonder why he was available so late.
If he's not a QB prospect, we aren't interested....
