Finland, lol. The 116th ranked population in the world. 53rd best military. #1 in sauna use, however. :p
Its their geographical location that is important.

There are a couple of things that I see as benefits to this:
1). Finland has one of the best trained, cold weather armed forces anywhere
2). This doubles the NATO border with OUR ENEMY
3). This is a political hit for Putin on the world stage
4). Sweden will be next to join NATO
Putin continues to fail at splintering NATO. If anything he has galvanized and strengthened its resolve. If Putin wanted to expand Soviet borders? Well, his invasion (border dispute?) of Ukraine is backfiring in a big way. Sadly, many lives are being lost too.
Its interesting how easy it is to predict the rise (and the inevitable fall) of isolationism in this country, sure as the sun sets in the West.
Some things are uniquely American.
