Ruh Roh?? Report: Vikings to sign No. 3 QB Sloter to active roster
The Minnesota Vikings will reportedly sign practice squad quarterback Kyle Sloter to the active roster.
Bradford has been limited all week in practice with a knee injury. ESPN reported that the Vikings’ starter had an MRI on the knee this week because of swelling and discomfort.
To open the season, Bradford posted 346 yards and three touchdowns in one of the league’s best Week 1 performances.
If Bradford can’t start, the Vikings will turn to backup Case Keenum.

Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!
Report: Vikings Promote Kyle Sloter to Active Roster
Apparently, the concern has become great enough where the Vikings are promoting another option at quarterback.
Sloter has only been with the Vikings for a couple of weeks, having spent the preseason with the Denver Broncos after going undrafted. I’m not sure how much of a grasp of the offense he has at this point, but he’s now at least an option for the Vikings at quarterback if the worst case scenario arises.
We don’t have any word yet on whose spot on the 53-man roster Sloter will be taking, but as soon as we have that information we will bring it here.
This news leads me to believe that Bradford might end up being a game-time decision. If the knee is giving him issues, they’ll let him test it out in pre-game warm-ups. If he’s not able to go, then Case Keenum will get the start at quarterback and Sloter will be his backup. If Bradford is able to go, then he’ll start, Keenum will back him up, and Sloter will likely be inactive.
We’ll be keeping an eye on this one as it develops.

Report: Vikings sign Kyle Sloter to active rosterKyle Sloter appears to be headed to the active roster for Week 2.61 minutes ago
The news comes courtesy of reporter Miles Garrett on Twitter.
This could mean a few things for the Vikings as they head into Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. With Sam Bradford dealing with a knee issue, the only quarterback left was Case Keenum.

Sloter being called up either means the team is just getting some insurance in case Bradford does not go, or that the decision has been made that he is not going to play.
We will have more on this story as it becomes available.
Vikings Sign QB Kyle Sloter To 53-Man Roster
On Saturday the Vikings announced that the club has signed QB Kyle Sloter to the 53-man roster off of the practice squad.
To make room on the roster, the team waived S Antone Exum Jr.
Sloter (Slow-dur) entered the NFL as a rookie free agent, signing with the Denver Broncos on 5/11/17. The John’s Creek, Georgia native was released by Denver on 9/2/17 and signed to the Vikings practice squad on 9/4/17. Sloter began his collegiate career at Southern Mississippi as a WR and finished at Northern Colorado, where he made the transition to QB. Sloter finished the 2017 preseason with 413 passing yards, 3 TD and 0 INTs on 31-for-43 passing, totaling a 125.4 passer rating.

Vikings promote QB Kyle Sloter amid concern over Sam Bradford's knee
Bradford, who boarded the team flight to Pittsburgh on Saturday, is dealing with a left knee injury reportedly requiring an MRI this week that turned up negative. It’s the same knee for which Bradford has undergone two surgeries to repair a torn ACL in 2013 and 2014.
Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer declined to shed light on Bradford’s injury, but said Friday he expected Bradford to play. Even so, Sloter’s promotion indicates they’re still concerned Bradford won’t suit up vs. the Steelers.
If Bradford doesn’t play, backup Case Keenum would get the start. Keenum has 24 career starts, including nine for the Rams last season.
Sloter was promoted from the Vikings practice squad. Safety Antone Exum Jr. was waived to make room on the roster.
The Vikings aggressively pursued Sloter to be the offense’s third quarterback earlier this month, giving him nearly active roster money with $20,000 per week. Now on the roster, he’ll be bumped up to at least $27,000 per week. Undrafted out of Northern Colorado, Sloter threw for 413 yards and three touchdowns for the Broncos this preseason.
Linebacker Anthony Barr (hamstring) and cornerback Xavier Rhodes (hip) also boarded the team flight to Pittsburgh on Saturday. Both are listed as questionable to play against the Steelers.

Eh...to me, this just seems like insuring things at the QB position. If Sam was a scratch, I doubt they'd have had him practice beyond Wednesday, in order to give his knee more time to recover.
I'm thinking (and admittedly hoping) that Bradford and Barr are both just dealing with the first real-game bumps and bruises of the season, and will get back into "game rhythm" shortly.
That said, Keenum looked pretty decisive in some preseason games, so it could be miles worse.
Is there any chance this is a preemptive move to keep Sloter safe - perhaps because the Vikings fear another team might offer him a spot on their active roster?
We just can't have nice things as Viking's fans, can we? Sigh. Bradford's knee is obviously concerning the Vikings quite a bit. Its probably 60/40 against that Sam starts tomorrow. Fuck. This is no preemptive signing to keep Sloter away from another team, this is a Bradford knee issue.
Always something in Viking's land. Always.
Early in the season still, with a lot of games to go. If anything, I hope this is just a precaution and maybe if we rest Sam it will be to keep him for the rest of the season. Too much Kool Aid flowing after last week to let the hype train stop here!
I'd just play Keenum if there is this much concern this late in the week. Let him rest and get healthy.
Teddy fan boys should see their doctor four hours after receiving this news...

This whole situation makes me sick though. I hate all the speculation and not knowing. I also hate that it is happening so early in the season. Hoping for the best.

While I have seen posters mount a vigorous defense of Bridgewater, I can't say any of them are fans of Teddy first and team second. It is possible to be a Viking fan and like both Bridgewater and Bradford, really it is!
@"Vikergirl" said:this pretty much sums it up for me too...Hoping the best for Sam - guy deserves a chance to succeed. They have very different games and honestly I think Sam would have fit better into a Norv Turner offense than Teddy, just because of his accuracy. However, I think the current offense fits both QB's. I am excited about the QB position and the future.
I was just listening to the BTN and they congratulated Matthew Stafford on his contract and then commented about how some Lions fans were upset over the amount. Then they asked the question, "Have you seen what else is out there? Including the incoming classes."
I hope Teddy gets well, I hope Sam plays his ass off and gets a. ontract extension. It only helps the Vikings!
@"BarrNone55" said:the way you are taking this shit makes me wonder if you are the exact opposite, your digs at those that have spoken up for Teddy (even though Sams position is/was pretty solid) gives the impression that you kind of have a little man crush going for yourself.@"IDVikingfan" said:Because Teddy fan boys are fans of Teddy first and the team a distant second with Sam far down the list...@"BarrNone55" said: Teddy fan boys should see their doctor four hours after receiving this news... “It means a lot to me that (general manager Rick) Spielman, Coach Zimmer and the staff believe in me enough to bring me up from the practice squad,” Sloter wrote in the text. “I’m still new to the offense, but I’m getting the hang of things.
“And right right now I’m just here to provide support to the quarterback position and do whatever is asked of me. I’ve really come to love Minnesota and am hoping to here for a long time.’’
The Vikings initially signed Sloter to a practice-squad deal worth $20,000 per week, nearly three times the NFL minimum of $7,200. He now will make $27,353 per week based on his NFL minimum salary for this season of $465,000.
Sloter is on the books for $555,000 in 2018 and $645,000 in 2019. His salary is nonguaranteed, and he did not get a signing bonus.
