Might see Andy Dalton for the Aints?
Looks like the Saints are preparing in case they have to make a change at quarterback. Jameis Winston was not at practice today. Andy Dalton took first team reps at QB, with Taysom Hill receiving reps as a reserve QB. This is different than past weeks.

I think we'd rather face Winston, Dalton has the experience and accuracy to pick apart our soft D, Winston is less of a passer, but could expose those run/scramble lanes our D leaves. Not to mention Winston has yet to throw a TD in the first 3 quarters of a game this year, (5 in the 4th iirc). Wasn't it Dalton that best us off bench as a cowboy a couple years ago?

*Famous last words only to be proven extremely wrong when Dalton throws for 350 yards and 4 TDs.
Yeah, I'd rather face Winston. We have a book on Winston. He's got a higher ceiling, but a much lower floor than Dalton.
Vikings really should win this game, so I'm not hugely concerned about either QB. But how many times have we seen the Vikings drop a winnable game to a backup QB? Cooper Rush, Dalton with the Cowboys, Chase Daniel, etc, etc. It's a long list.

This is exactly where I'm at. If KO and the boys are able to squash a backup QB like we 100% should be able to-- Saints are missing WRs also-- then it'll be another big step forward from the Zimmer era, who was always flummoxed by backup QBs for whatever reason.
Backup QB PTSD is real. Here is a recent smattering of the backup QB coming in and beating us
IN THE PLAYOFFS:
17 Championship Game with Big Dick Nick
94, Wild Card losing to Steve Walsh, at HOME
LOSSES THAT KEPT US OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS:
Todd Collins, in Minnesota 2007
Rick Mirer, yes, BUST Rick Mirer in 2003
Speaking of 03, McNown back to pass, NOOOOOO
BACKUP LOSSES THAT AFFECTED PLAYOFF SEEDING
Sunday Night vs Matt Moore in 09 costs us a #1 seed
Chad Hutchinson, a true BUM in 04, no division crown
Steve Young for his infamous run game in 88, Vikings W gives us #1 seed, kicks SF out of the playoffs
Hurt Trubisky in Chicago, Chase Daniel beats us in 19
With no pass rush and the secondary playing 10-15 yards off the ball, I think any NFL QB is a threat to pick apart our defense. I could see Dalton dinking and dunking us all day.
Jameis is going to be hung over from all the fish and chips.
Think I would prefer Winston but either way I hope the light goes on for the defense.
Jameis Winston did not practice for a third day in a row. Would be surprising if he plays

Seriously, if fans are more scared of the backup then starter, then we are a skittish lot. Bring on the ginger bastard:
Significant injury news per ESPN's Saints reporter @Kat_Terrell: QB Jameis Winston is doubtful to play Sunday vs. the Vikings. WR Michael Thomas is out.

Last scar was Cooper Rush...
Vikings have played Andy Dalton three times with three different teams since 2017. He's 1-2, but the one win was that Cowboys game where he shredded us pretty good.

Dalton played in London once with Cincy against a Cousins led Washington team. It ended in a 27-27 tie. If Kirk can't outduel Dalton, we have some serious problems...
Love a road game in a neutral site vs a team that's quite good at home.
Go to London, get a win vs a lesser team, 3-1 with the Bears at home (4-1) and right in the thick of it

This really should be an easy win for the Vikings. A 31-14 type win. The fans need it, the media needs it, the team needs it. And it sure would feel good.
But I just keep coming back to the fact that no matter where a game is and how hurt your opponent is, every team in the NFL is capable of beating any other team. It all depends on the game plan each has cooked up, and I'm not yet convinced the Vikings are there yet in that department.
For the Vikings defense, you'd think it's as simple as shutting down Kamara and forcing Dalton to beat you with his lesser receivers and ginger-bred arm. But the last time we saw Kamara he scored 6 TDs.
with guard Andrus Peat out, the Saints are 1 injury away from having to play, wait for it: Wyatt Davis…! B)

I'm not betting this game...Dont got a good feel for it, at all. Mainly because I dont know (yet) what we got in this years Vikings squad or the coaching staff.

Don't blame you. But then I've bet on exactly one game in my life and that was some meaningless game against the Saints about 20 years ago because I had a buddy going to Vegas (we won). I'll bet season things, but week to week NFL games are just too unpredictable.I think we're all looking for proof that the Vikings really are a good team. You could make an argument that the 3 teams we've played are top 5 in the NFC (yes, even the Lions). So what do we look like against a lesser team? We'll see...
