Kalil never played a single season as good as CD had last year.  This kid sounds like he has heart for the game...I think Kalil played to meet others expectations of him,  he never showed love for the game or the competition

Kalil played football because he was so good at it.  HE NEVER even liked playing.   He NEVER put the effort into it his brother did.  All the ability and ZERO desire.

Kalil was quoted as saying football wasn't that important to him

I would say Kalil had a better season than Darrisaw did last year.  Darrisaw showed promise and much more aptitude for the position than Kalil did.  But he played part of a year, was raw and got plenty of help.

But your take on Kalil's heart is spot on.  He was from a football family and played because it was his job.  And he performed like it was just a job.

Kalils rookie season wasnt bad. I’m just saying the dude always said he was as health as he’s ever been. Not that I think Darrisaw is going down that path.

So happy with the Darrisaw pick and I was a huge advocate for him at 14 never mind later.  Spelly was able to get Darrisaw and 2 additional 3rd rounders which I think were W Davis and Mond.
If either of those 2 picks becomes even a decent backup it would be a good move down.  Good not Great unless one of those 2 is the real deal which looks like Mond is the only one to have that positive trend.  Davis looks like a bust.

Kalil had an excellent rookie year followed by injury and a lack of desire/dedication to bounce back as others have pointed out.   He was the consensus pick for us by all fellow board pundits and national guru's:) He didn't work out of course but he was the right pick at that time.

I went back and forth between Kalil and Morris Claiborne. Both were busts. I actually liked Riley Reiff's tape more than Kalil's, but recognized he would've been a ridiculous reach in the top 5.

Kalil's thing was that he didn't give up sacks at USC, but if you watched him, he gave up a lot of pressure. They just didn't result in sacks due to the QB....I think it was Matt Barkley.

Kalil should've been better than he was. He was LT101. He just didn't seem to have the want-to.

Kalil, great rookie season.  Terrible after that.

Darrisaw looks to be a potential stalwart at LT
