Why?
Free agent WR and return specialist Dede Westbrook is working out for the #Vikings today, source said, and he could land back in MIN. A few other teams are interested, and the ex-#Jaguars WR should sign in the next couple of days.

Possible our punt returners are struggling to field the ball. Sherels may not have been a great return man, but at least you knew he was always going to catch the ball.

Vikings signing Albert Wilson to one-year dealSigning this dude instead… :)
The Vikings have agreed to terms free agent receiver Albert Wilson on a one-year contract, according to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus.
Wilson and Dede Westbrook worked out for the team Tuesday.

Nonguaranteed minimum contract so no point getting worked up over it, but this signing does seem a little odd. Wilson is 29 and has never done much, and I keep reading how solid our young WR depth is. It might be like others have said— no one can catch a punt. Would be a shame to have to burn a roster spot because of that though. Hmm
He must be the Spud Webb of our Wr basketball team, he’s 5’9… ;)

Doesnt bode well initially for my nailor hope. I looked up his stats he has a few kick returns, but no punt returns. offensive gadget guy. Nothing stood out except 1 thing. He has ZERO career fumbles. I would guess his touches are about 300 or so.

He always caught the ball which is a huge part of PR. And he was shifty and could read the holes quite well. IIRC he was always ranked pretty high on net return average.

Now we know why....
Kevin O’Connell said that WR Ihmir Smith-Marsette is out for the rest of the spring due to lower leg injury suffered in recent workout

He was a poor mans Thielen. Came from nothing and made a good career doing the little things well. I love seeing that type succeed where so many talented players fail.

"Really just where he’s at, his spring is pretty much over just based upon the timing of things," O'Connell said. "But we expect him to make a full recovery and be ready to roll for training camp. It’s really just a precautionary thing, making sure we handled it now so he can get off to a good start — have a good four, five weeks in the summer to prep for training camp and be ready to roll."
