There'll be a kicker competition

3 year deal. Its interesting that Joseph's deal isn't guaranteed, so no cap implications if Brkic wins it.

Should give Greg Joseph a run for his money. Was Brugler's #2 kicker in the draft class. Made 57/69 career field goals at Oklahoma (82.6%), including a perfect 2019 season and 5/7 from 50+ yards last year, as well as 159/160 extra points. https://t.co/VQjxH4hlHr

And no Zimmer to ruin him!
Wow, a 3-year deal? Maybe enough to buy a vowel? Looks like a character outta North Dallas Forty.
The #Vikings are reportedly signing former Oklahoma kicker Gabe Brkic as an UDFA

Yep. He's the savior Viking Nation didn't know we needed. Soon to be a fan favorite if he can make kicks and keep that personality.
Is a 3-year deal even a competition? To me that says Doc is the guy. I guess if it's only one year guaranteed then that's a different story.

I think it says the Vikings really wanted him and wanted to give him a contract that would get him here. But with only one year guaranteed, it also means that if he can't beat out Joseph, it's not a huge money loss. His profile is promising, but Joseph had a solid year last season.
He needs to keep the 'stache. I'd make it a contract requirement if he sticks.
First off, all UDFA deals are theoretically 3-year deals. So that is agent spin.
Second, although it will be a "competition" I don't know how seriously they're looking to replace Joseph. This feels like a move to just get a kicker into camp early on to make sure they have the timing nailed down as a unit if they needed to use him during the season due to injury. They'll be able to carry him on the PS. Long-term maybe he is a viable candidate for kicker since Joseph is on a 1-year RFA tender. But that is a ways out.

But Geoff....did you see his mustache?
Strong leg, past success, Sounds good to me. Best part of it, he exudes that IDGAF vibe- might be a keeper.
