You want another KC thread? You got it!
As the team reconvenes under new coach Kevin O'Connell, its quarterback spoke to reporters on for the first time since he signed a one-year contract extension.Speaking to reporters on Monday for the first time since he signed his one-year contract extension on March 14, Cousins said he wants to retire with the team that first signed him in 2018. Though his name surfaced in some trade chatter this offseason, Cousins' relationship with new coach Kevin O'Connell suggested he could remain in the Vikings' plans. He said Monday his goal through the entire negotiation process was to stay with the team.
"The short answer is, I wanted to be a Minnesota Viking," Cousins said. "I wanted to help create some cap space so that we could put together a roster that you do feel really good about. It's just always trying to find win-wins. I think it was a way to create a win-win, and then hopefully that leads to a lot of wins this fall."
"My mind-set was really to be a Viking. I would like to retire as a Viking, and so I would like to play my way into that, if you will. I know I've got to earn the right to do that."
Cousins' new deal runs through the 2023 season and gives him a no-trade clause. The Vikings put void years for 2024 and 2025 in the deal to spread out the cap hits from Cousins' $25 million signing bonus, but he would be a free agent after 2023 under the terms of the current contract. He'd be 35 at that point, meaning he could need another contract to meet his goal of retiring as a Viking. Cousins said Monday he understands he'll have to play well enough to make that happen.
"If I could draw it up, it'd be, 'Play well enough that you never have to play or wear another jersey anywhere else,'" Cousins said. "I'm going to work really hard to try to make that possible."

Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!
shocking that he wants the team that keeps paying him top dollar contracts to continue to pay him top dollar contracts until he doesnt want to play any longer...
You want more Cousins? I'll give you more Cousins. I wanted Cousins, Zimmer, Spielman, and Paul Allen gone 3 years ago! But no. The Wilf's kept them all!
OK. Now it's an official Cousins thread!

There's nothing wrong with Paul Allen. The game calling is leaps and bounds better then most.

I hope that was sarcasm.

Can't speak to his game calls because I never listen to them. I've heard some say that he's not very accurate? I don't know what the issue is, but folks in Minny don't seem to like him much.Which is weird because he's recognized everywhere else as one of the best voices in the business. Or maybe it's just the Denver radio guys who are obsessed with him.

Want to hear a REAL game day announcer? Mitch Holtus for the Kansas City Chiefs. Outstanding. Allen is recognized for his sound bytes nationally, not his actual gameday announcing.
I like Allen a lot. He's definitely more of the big play, get excited guy, than the smooth articulate type. He makes mistakes, but give me the excited homer every time. I'm a Cubs fan, and loved Harry Carey. Boog Sciambi is fine, but hardly must see tv like Harry was.

I hope that was sarcasm.I've never had a problem with him. So no, not sarcasm.
I think Paul Allen does a good job. The half dozen guys I’ve heard from other teams are generally boring.

So...
...shocking that the same old blather about the QB keeps involving inflated blather about the his contract that's repeated ad nauseum because the old blather is apparently better than taking 10 seconds to look up relevant facts about the same old blather from the same old haters about the same QB....

Who's been the top compensated QB in the league the last 5 years, you like facts? Fact is its been Kirk Cousins. And I didn't even have to look that up.

Yep...he has. Mahomes, Allen, and other current superstars were ending their rookie deals. Check that again after about 2023, when all those kids' real contracts are paying.Meanwhile, Matt Ryan had $40 million in dead cap , which gets less than 1 percent of the press Cousins contract does...Carr just got over 120 million for 3 years, and so on.
I'll say right out loud that I find the money for athletes in general to be mind numbing, but I don't have 1000+ pounds of man-beef trying to flatten me every snap, either...and not from behind a line with a decade's worth of bad ratings and terrible RG/C play....
