Maye Pro Day
Maye threw a lot of balls today. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 70. His best stuff, to no one’s surprise, was down field. His accuracy in that 25-40 yard range is exceptional. It’s fun to watch.
Improvements: He showed better footwork and one off platform throw was fantastic. It was a clone of Nix’s motion - joining him and the QB coach is paying dividends. His movement on throws out to the boundary were much quicker than during the season. Again, the training is paying off. That’s something I like about Maye. He knows what he needs to work on and takes it seriously. If he missed a ball or a WR dropped one, he immediately ran it again to get it right.
His long balls were money. I’m not sure if it was by design, but the WR’s waited a little for a couple. Either way, looked good. Furthest throw was right about 60 yards. A little less than the low 60’s JJM has shown he can hit and a bit shorter than the in stride 68 yarder Nix threw at his pro day.
Overall, I think he had a good showing. He still showed a few struggles throwing right and to the boundary (air mailed a couple), but it was definitely improved.
Wish he would not have done as well and persuade one of the top 3 to trade down

lol, even with a Maye breakdown you throw in a Nix reference! :p

How guys look in shorts is of very little value IMO in evaluating how they will play in pads with live bullets flying. Biggest take away would be the footwork, is he showing improvement, which apparently he was, but, once again, will that footwork stick whem the other guys are trying to kill him?@"JR44" said: Wish he would not have done as well and persuade one of the top 3 to trade down You don’t find a lot of “bad” pro days.
KOC seemed to acknowledge Maye's somewhat disappointing '23 season by saying something about how his '22 season showed what kind of future he has.
Vikings sure have been open about their love for Maye and McCarthy, while saying virtually nothing about Nix and Penix, even when given the chance. What should we take from that?

Nor have they said much about Daniels. Props to keeping their cards close to the vest.
