Should be. But personally, I feel for him to some extent. Had a lot of bullshit happen in his tenure with the Vikings. I think being a HC for him is extremely stressful week to week, I'm sure its taken a toll. Don't think he's a bad coach necessarily, but the Vikings suffered for his learning curve as The Man. He has weaknesses for today's NFL I think. But at least the guy got 8 years in the big chair after it looked like that opportunity had slipped away. I would imagine a few teams would make him their D-coordinator in a heartbeat if he so chooses. He's 71-56-1 during the regular season going into tomorrow's game, so a winning NFL head coach.

Although I believe this needs to be done (his firing), I'm a little melancholy about it writing his Viking eulogy. But onward and upward hopefully.

That's my sentiment as well.

I dont find any joy in how the Zimmer Era is most likely going to end. None.

I respect Mike a bunch and I know he busted his asz to try and get the team over that CG hump too.

I will look forward to an offense where the fans and opposing defense find it hard to predict the next play pre-snap.

You feel for him?
Don't forget about us fans that have been suffering here 50 years before Zim even got here.

Easy to pick a part in hindsight.

1. Being a D coach yet the D getting trashed several times throughout his tenure
2. CB whisperer? Pa-lease
3. Had as many offensive coordinators as 1st downs last week.
3. Kickers? Carlson? See offensive coordinators.
4. Clock mismanagement

No guarantee next guy will be better but we know this current shit show is going no where.

You realize it'll never happen for us, right? We'll watch Green Bay win a Super Bowl this year and the sports universe keeps on keeping on.

I'm ready for Z to go, but I also empathize with his situation. I've already resigned myself to the fact my fandom will go unrequited.

I don't hate the guy but it's time for Zimmer to move on. He will be fine though. It started off on the right track and then there was some shit luck. And now the defense is atrocious and the offense needs to be upgraded. It is what it is. It is time to move in another direction.

Let's see:  run for 3 yards, run for 1 yard, on 3rd and 6 - pass for 3 yards, punt. Yea, I've seen that enough.

He's 67 with a model girlfriend, a ranch and 8 digits in the bank.  Boo-friggen-hoo.

And after the last 2 years I wouldn't hire him as a DC either.  I think he's been exposed and doesn't have a countermove.

Mike's earned his retirement...I dont get the personal vitriol with the guy. He's been far from perfect, but is also the 3rd winningest coach in Vikings history.
If the Wilfs do show him the door, it should be with reverence and gratitude for serving Viking nation well.

I'll wish him well and appreciate the efforts, but we need to do better. All the national media is saying Z is done, it would be nice if he got a nice round of applause at U.S. Bank stadium but not sure how the fans feel.

No doubt about that....

Us fans in their 50/60 range? Who've been rooting for the team since as far back as the SB era teams? Know this better than anyone.

As I read this, all I can think of is Cersei dismissing Ser Barristan Selmy in GOT.

Every job in the NFL is extremely difficult and 99% of the population cannot do.  HC is no different.  Zimmer was an average overall HC but a top DC.  I was all for his hiring and giving him the shot that paid off quickly with the Defense improvement.  But he was never really able to do more than that it it only last 4 or 5 years - IMO.  I wish him well but I do want to move on and have for a few years.

'House of the Dragon' (no premiere date, HBO) - Matt Smith ('Doctor Who,' 'The Crown') is part of the ensemble in this 'Game of Thrones' prequel, set 200 years before the flagship series, based on George R.R. Martin's book 'Fire & Blood.' The series follows a battle for power (what else?) during the Targaryen dynasty, so yes, there will be dragons, and yes, there will be blood.

Really? How do you know that? I respectfully disagree. There are many aspects to coaching. X's & O's, game planning, plays, setting up plays, teaching, and it's a game of emotion and motivation is key. Also, press conferences and public relations. And even if I did forget something it is no doubt a demanding job but saying 99% of the population can't do it is a slap in the face of many who can do it but will never get the chance.
