...I think the whole team and coaching staff will get booed into oblivion at U.S. Bank stadium to end the year by the fans. Like ugly style. Sad way to end the Zimmer era and he probably deserves a little better than that but it's undoubtedly time for him to go. I don't dislike the guy and I believe he has some good traits, but the team suffered for his learning curve as a head coach and there are some tricks you can't teach that old dog. There were some talented teams that didn't perform up to that level of talent when it mattered. The buck stops with the HC.

I for one hope that the Wilfs don't stop with one buck,  I think we need a refresh at the GM position as well.  RS has made to many WTF decisions and shouldn't get to skate just because Zimmer is let go.

Has he learned? In 8 years has he grown as a coach? I'm not seeing anything that points to progress.

Hot girlfriend, cool ranch, but...he's well past his expiration date.

I especially don't want RS picking our next coach.  Hopefully the GM is the first hire that has a plan on how to rebuild this team into something worth watching again.

Ugly loss @ GB or not, the stadium may look like this with nothing on the line but how quiet does the 21 season end?

Outside of the bottom line, an owners greatest concern is fan apathy.

Ugly loss at GB, Zimmer shouldn't get to even make the trip back to Minny. I'd have fired him after the Rams game (actually, I'd have fired him after the Detroit game).

I havent been to a game in about 3 years,  heres how bad it is,  I was offered tickets to the bears game and turned them down.  about the only way I can not blow up watching this team anymore is to be totally drunk and even then I am swearing at the TV.  I would go broke trying to get to that level of tolerance/indifference  buying Zygi priced cocktails at USBank stadium.   On the plus side the guy that offered me the bears game has now come back with tickets to a Wild game so i've got that going for me.

The Wilfs are good people. I tend to think they will quietly ask him to retire after the season and he will. Of course he'll be a white hot DC candidate (if not HC candidate) on the market if he decides to stay in the game.

This is what I think will happen as well.  I also think there's a chance he'll take a year off to let the stress unwind.

Agree. Rick is pretty highly rated around the league but I see him in the middle of the pack, decent but upgradable.

His biggest failing is not building this team from the inside out. This game is decided in the trenches and at QB and we are below average in the former and slightly above in the other.

I could see this too. Zimmer and Kubiak both need to go, I’m good with whatever the Wilfs want to do with RS but I dont want RS picking the next head coach. We have some pretty damn good owners and have a lot of really good individual players along with a badass stadium. I think the Wilfs can get a top tier coaching candidate to come to Minny

I also think Zim will have new life as a DC, similar to Leslie. Zim has been a better HC than Leslie, but it’s just time to move on. Hopefully he Zimmer doesn’t wind up in the North. I don’t want to root against him, I just no longer want to root for him either.

Hopefully we beat GB but if the Vikings lose (close game, of course) and are officially eliminated from the playoffs then it’s a 100% no-brainer to start Kellen Mond in the final game.

1. See what you might have
2. Keep Kirk healthy because we either need him next year or will try to move him

Dalvin and some others should rest as well.

That said, does anyone think the current Vikings regime will actually do this?

That's a little different though. The Wilfs had just taken over ownership of the Vikings.  Tice wasn't hired by the Wilfs so there was no history between the two. Also Tice's contract had expired and he had a few well-known off-field issues.

I don't know if the Wilfs will wait until after the season, or allow him to resign first, but if they do move on from Zim, I feel pretty confident they will find a way to do it that isn't a big slap in the face to a coach who, up until this year, has been more asset than liability to the org.

Minnesota luck, they beat Green Bay,  they play Kirk against the bears,   Kirk gets some sort of injury that makes him untradeable in the offseason and him not willing to work on any kind of deal because he knows the team has to pay him the 45 mill.

We don't need that bad juju, Jimmy. Stuff like this becomes possible when it's the Vikings. Knock it off

No,   mond comes in and plays good enough to beat a defeated bears team,  we make the playoffs,  but then after teams have a week to prepare for him,  we lose  because Zimmer gets nervous and decides to start Mannion because of his veteran experience.

My bad….
Question: Will Mannion be fully recovered from Covid?  =)

Not a chance in hell.  Same situation last year: 6-9 going into final game vs Detroit with Reiff, Rudy and Dalvin all out for various reasons. Perfect time to start Stanley to see if there's a glimmer of anything.  Nope, Zim starts Kirk, actually lets him throw for 400 yards and win a 37-35 shootout that drops out draft pick to 14 and costs us a shot at either Slater or Fields.

Stay tuned for the rerun Jan. 9.
