Gentlemen, start your interviews - Tuesday 12/28
Let Zimmer know now that he is not part of the plan next year so we can get a jump on interviews and candidates.
With the NFL's new rules allowing clubs to begin interviewing candidates on Tuesday, Dec. 28, the Jags can start their search in earnest this week.
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Sunday on NFL GameDay Morning that the initial list of candidates the Jags are interested in interviewing includes Buccaneers offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich, and former head coaches Jim Caldwell and Doug Pederson.
Leftwich, the former Jaguars first-round pick in 2003, has ties to Jacksonville from his playing days. The OC is expected to be a hot candidate this year after helping lead a Bucs offense that enters Week 16 ranked first in the NFL in scoring.
@"TBro" said: Leftwich is worthy of consideration. We really need to find an innovative offensive mind that can take this team to the next level, and they may be forced to do it with Mond at QB. No way Cousins will be back at his $45 million cap hit next year, and I don't see him willing to take a pay cut. He put up good numbers this season and will definitely get a team to pony up a hefty new contract for him after he is cut.I forgot about his extension being fully guaranteed in 2022 so cutting him won't happen, but a trade is very likely with the Vikings eating a portion of his salary. That would free up $35 million if we can find a trade partner.
Packers OC Nathaniel Hackett
Eagles DC Jonathan Gannon
Bills DC Leslie Frazier
Rams DC Raheem Morris
Bengals OC Brian Callahan
Cowboys DC Dan Quinn

Mike Zimmer: finding new ways to suck.

No offense but is this a joke?
Fangio is a bigger dinosaur with a worse offense than Zimmer. Also what Lafleur are you referring to? I must be ignorant (likely!) but the only NFL Lafleur i know is the GB HC, who’s definitely not coming here.

That's an astounding stat. Offense and defense never in sync. Watching the Vikings is like trying to put the same ends of a magnet together.

I dont like Leftwich either as I also think he’s a Brady benefactor. Their running plays never look right and then look at their receiving weapons. He may be good, I just lean towards the group of guys on offense making him look good
Tampa Org did things right, hired correct coach, built OL and DL, then got a QB that could win.Dallas, Forty Niners same to lesser degree

The only way out is a trade, and that takes 2 to tango, or another renegotiation (I puked a little in my mouth). With Cousin's 45 million hit we are already the team most over the CAP for 2022 according to Spotrac.
He has us by the nads and he is asking us to cough, mask free :)
Fairly certain it’s the Saints who are the team most over 2022 cap. Vikes are 4th?
Oh good, 4th worst, I feel much better :)

GB coach LaFleur has a brother. OC for Jets. Under Shanahan for a few years before Jets.

Thank you! I didn’t know that. Still not too fired up about Fangio but I’ll have to look into Lil’ LaFleur more.
For #%^& sake, Leslie Frazier?? Just shoot me now. And he'll be 63 years old before next year's Draft.

Today is the day we could notify Zimmer and start a new HC search!

I don't think anything will get done until they are totally eliminated from the playoff race. Although corpse has been waiting to get buried for a few weeks now!
My guess is they will get out the shovels after this week or wait until after the Bears game.
I'm for a clean sweep. Spielman, Zimmer, Cousins, and Paul Allen!
Well maybe not Paul Allen, but it would not surprise me one bit if no changes are made!
Wilf's need to break the cycle of perpetual mediocracy.

Right, but like most teams with cap issues, the biggest cap drags are in one or two salaries. Extend or trade Cousins and the Vikings cap problems go away. Same for the Saints with Lattimore and/or Michael Thomas.
Eberflus also being courted. My dark horse candidate.

Trade at all costs literally. Jjust like zimmer about 3 years ago i am completly off the cousins bandwagon
i dont want a new HC stuck with cousins even for one year nevermind 2 or more

I'd be for the extension, but trading him wouldn't ruffle my feathers too much. But I'd only do it for a QB who's ready to start right now. Either long-term (yeah, good luck finding one better than Cousins) or a low-cost bridge to give Mond another year.I certainly wouldn't do it for a 1st round pick QB. The odds of hitting are just so low it's not worth it. What's more, there's too much talent on this team to saddle with a rookie QB backed up by a 3rd round question mark.
Sign a bridge (Teddy, Matty, Goff, Mariota), then use the two 1st rounders to draft CBs and/or Barr's replacement. Vikings right back in the game.
