Oli to LT
Why move around 3 pieces when rashod hill could have just replaced one?
Ludicrous move. This was the nail in the coffin for me regarding Zim. Done. No coming back from signing off on that move. Pressuring Goff once on the last drive was the last shovel full of dirt on the grave.
Done. Enjoy retirement in your ranch in KY.
Here's the deal: Udoh is an OT. That's what he is. In fact, he's probably best suited for RT. He should have been the #1 swing backup OT instead of Hill. He's not a guard. Let's start there.

I would agree, however, that he's better suited to tackle than guard.
Vikings clearly thought he'd be better than Hill, and as bad as he was, Hill was probably worse. All this begs the question...what the hell is going on with Wyatt Davis? Vikings apparently thought that a Udoh/Brad/Cole combo was better than a Hill/Cole/Davis combo. And actually, this is hard to argue with, considering Davis is a rookie, Cole was solid at RG and Bradbury had one of his better games.
What's the future? Bradbury has one more season under contract, so he may be traded. Guessing we'll go into '22 with Darrisaw-Cleveland-Cole-Davis-O'Neill, with a high priority on adding one more IOL in the offseason to hedge questionables like Cole and Davis. Blake Brandel is someone to keep an eye on as well.

So last week, instead of inserting one Schmoe, Hill, you move one of your worst linemen to a place he hasn't even practiced at all year, Udoh, then put another bench warming Schmoe, Bradbury, at center, only to move another schmoe to right guard. I would love to know who the genius was that thought that was going to work!
Hill isn't an NFL starter, but has had some decent games in relief.
Cole was not good at guard and Bradbury had some issues as well.
I thought it was dumb as hell and added to the instability of the OL.

I’m telling you Zimmer wants to be fired. He said a while back that Sundays are not fun anymore. How else do you explain a lifer football coach being so inept? Hell, take one look at his girlfriend & his ranch, where would you rather be? ;) B)
I don't have a huge problem with it. Udoh was affective in the run game but struggled in pass protection. Hill was getting absolutely abused early this season so options were limited.

The fact that they felt the burning need to get Bust Bradbury back into the lineup just reminds me of so many other dumb fuck decisions on the o line in the past 8 years.
The reason why you would do it is obvious. "You get your 5 best players" out there on the field. It's still dumb, because just because they're good at one position doesn't mean they're good at every position, and doesn't mean they'll be good immediately when they're out of practice.
@"JimmyinSD" said:Udoh has been a tackle his whole career and has struggled kicking inside to guard this season. He is probably one of the most penalized interior lineman in the NFL. So the choice was basically choosing between Hill and Bradbury, and which you wanted in the lineup. Hill was brutal earlier in the season while Darrisaw was injured so I don't have a problem with them trying something different. Mixed results for sure but don't think it would of been any different if they would have started Hill instead@"supafreak84" said: I don't have a huge problem with it. The head scratcher to me, is we drafted a kid who played LT and have never even tried him there. Why didn't they at least try sliding Ezra over?
@"supafreak84" said:He was a tackle in the FCS, hardly a ringing endorsement for his being ready to start at LT in the pros. Was he even a LT in college? Seems the Vikings have had him on the right side since he got here. Its not the OT position that I think was a mistake, its moving him across the line. Seems we have seen that fail a lot more than succeed with this team.@"JimmyinSD" said:Udoh has been a tackle his whole career and has struggled kicking inside to guard this season. Bradbury actually had his highest or one of the highest grades of the season against Detroit. Not sure how Cole did but I imagine it couldn't have been any worse than Oli with his mental lapses and all.
For the rest of the season I'd like to see the line as follows and see how it goes:
Darrisaw - Cleveland - Bradbury - Cole - O'Neill. Maybe Davis can get some run too if he practices well or rectifies whatever it is that's been keeping him off the field.
God help us.
Oli vs Watt is a death sentence for Cousins.

why didnt you start a new thread with this information... you could have titled it " Zimmer Announces His Retirement"
Weird how so many people think Rashod Hill is better than Oli Udoh...
May as well get Oli acclimated to swing tackle cause thats where he’s headed after this year, unless the whole thing is blown sky-high and they trade Oneill.
