Time to fire Kubiak...

LOL, why stop at Kubiak?
@"purplefaithful" said: Cause they're not going to fire Zimmer mid-season...
I know lol. But honestly if you're going to start firing people whats a few more?
One: Sacrificial lamb
Two: I think he's holding the team back
Three: Some new offensive approaches/wrinkles might energize the team and fan base
Keeping him in there calling the plays is essentially tanking. Which, I guess I’m okay with? I don’t even know anymore. This team this season is just deflating.
It doesn't matter who is OC with Zimmer at the helm. The revolving door of offensive coordinators should have been a big red flag. Fire Zimmer.

I'm firmly on board with Zimmer. I was a major advocate even going into this season. I don't think the Wilfs do anything midseason.
At this point if we could end up in the top couple picks say top 10sih. I'd be onboard with trying our luck on the QB roulette wheel.

On board with Zimmer as well but I have zero interest in drafting a QB in the first round this year as the class is quite weak. If the Vikes are top 10, look at best defensive player available or potentially trading to pick up another first rounder. We are going to have to reconfigure the majority of the defense and maybe Mond is worth a damn...I mean he was our second pick of the draft this past year

Wait what? You want to keep him? Why draft a qb then? They won't develop him. And the qb class is not that good.

I also say start planning for life beyond Cousins. If that means picking QB high, go for it.

Ok you scared me for a minute there I was like wtf. Yeah they probably wait until the season ends if they have the balls to do it. Not sure what the plan is at qb. I am just sick and tired of this coaching staff.
I would be really surprised if Zimmer fired the son of good friend (especially as he should know this is his last year). It was a mistake to elevate him for that very reason. How many of you would fire a good friend's son if you were retiring at the end of the year?

I am not in disagreement with you but I don't think Zimmer is wired to think that way. He is loyal to individuals more than he is loyal to the team as a whole (in my opinion). I would bet that when Zimmer lured Kubiak senior last year, they cut a deal for Kubiak the younger to be DC this year (total speculation alert).
The offense has regressed. It is obvious he isn't up for the job
The offense can be explosive but just completely disappears for large sections of games. You need a QB in this league that can occasionally get you a 3rd down conversion with his legs or maneuver the pocket till someone uncovers. Our QB cannot do either

I get why Zimmer went with Kubiak. It’s the surest way to ensure that Cousins ended
up having the same offensive system.
Obviously, there’s risks with taking an inexperienced OC, and those
risks are bearing fruits.
Everyone wants that fresh young mind as their OC, but sometimes
you have to risk that young means inexperienced. The downfall with Zimmer is that he’s so
hands off on the offensive side of the ball, that inexperienced means there’s
no one else to provide the leadership on the offensive side of the ball. I think Zimmer needed to bring in some more
wisdom on the offensive side of the ball as an assistant, or he needed a legit
DC and he would work with the offense. Being inexperienced on both sides of the ball
at the coordinator positions was super dumb.

I don't think we know if he is hands off or hands on. I hear both to criticize him. I am over Zimmer as our head coach. I think he is a defensive genius, but the turnover at OC has killed this team. But again, he has had experienced leadership on that side, Norv, Kubiak Sr, Pat Shurmur, Tony Sparano. Then he has gone young and innovative, Deflip, Steph and Kubiak jr. The only ones that have worked out have been hired after one good year.
I would have loved to see him bring Shurmur back. I think Shumur was the best we had under zimmer and since he flopped a second time as head coach, he probably would have stuck around.
