VELSPÁR 2017 - FINAL RESULTS
Velspár 2017
Welcome to the 2017 season of Velspár! And welcome to those of you that are playing Velspár for the first time! Glad to have you join!!
Velspár, in old norse, means prophesying well or rightly. And that’s just what we all are trying to do, each week during the Minnesota Vikings season. Each week a set of questions will be posted at http://scottsabarber.wixsite.com/velspar (Hopefully by Wednesday) The results will also be posted there. Correctly predicting the questions will result in points awarded (based on the degree of difficulty) The person with the most points is that weeks winner. There are no weekly prizes (yet) but the points earned each week will be added up weekly and there will be a prize for the person with the most points at the end of the season. A beautiful hand crafted Velspar Champion Mug. So put on your thinking horns and join in on Velspár!!
WEEK 1, THE SWITCH
I don’t know about you, but I’m not as optimistic about the 2017 season. The Vikings run of 3-8 after starting out 5-0, probably has a lot to do with it. Maybe it’s the end of the run of Training Camp in Mankato, end of the run of some tailgaiting. The face of the franchise for the past 10 years, adrian Peterson switched teams. I’m usually the most optimistic person in the room, but after those things and watching the pre-season performance and the fact that No team has won a Superbowl in their own stadium really doesn’t get my hopes up. I will stir up some optimism though and say maybe this 2017 version of the Adrian Petersonless Vikings can flip the switch and light it up on both sides of the ball. I guess we will all find out on Monday night.
It’s time to cook all those old ways and we are gonna roll with what we got.

Papa, you mentioned that there will be VESLPAR for Wild Card Weekend (even though the Vikings aren't playing)... did you figure out the details yet? Need some help?
There is no team representing the NFC North this week in the playoffs, too bad. As the Vikings sit at home another Wild card weekend the rest of the NFC North is blowing up their coaching staffs... and they all want what the Vikings have those cheese heads just can't admit it. Anyway it's a rarity for Velspar to be alive going into week 19, which we will at the very least. It's time for the Vikings to heal up the o-line and the rest of the injuries and prepare for a home battle against one of the three teams (Rams, Panthers, Saints) battling it out this weekend. Who will be the beaten up team that gets to get beat again in the house of pain? All eyes are looking elsewhere for the NFC team that will represent them in the Superbowl, and that's just fine with me. Who will be hoisting up the coveted VELSPAR BEER MUG? that too remains to be seen. Greylock is still holding on to the lead as a 4 point lead has gone back up to nearly a 20 point lead. Brickvike, Plundering and Movikx all have a legit shot to overtake Greylock for the mug. It will be an interesting couple of weeks, hopefully this will go on for another month.
Welcome to Week 18 of VELSPAR
papa, check out the tiebreaker TOP for the Saints...it's set as a clock so time of possession can't be over 12.

Shoot me a PM... I'll be happy to chip in.
I started out thinking about this weeks Velspar and started typing out my dialog only to discover it was long and wordy and then I found THIS VIDEO which summed up what I had typed. I titled this week Shock the World, after Everson Griffen's comment about shocking the world. The Vikings have been flying under the radar most of the year all the while sending "minor" shock waves throughout the league. Fueled by a dominate performance on the Defense and productive offense that has shown flashes of it's own dominance this year. But the narrative is once again dismissing the Vikings as we are told to ignore week one as this is a different New Orleans Saints. Vikings fans can't shake that nagging feeling as well. So here we sit right back at square one. The regular season is done and the Vikings find themselves at home and two steps away from the superbowl.
The Vikings must smoke the Saints first and speaking of firsts we have seen a few of those this year and this will be the Vikings first playoff game at US BANK stadium. It's time. Welcome to week 19 of Velspar.
Special thanks to WETLANDER for putting together this weeks questions and gifs I hope you enjoy it!!

I do have a problem though. My score didn't show up for last game, but I do remember filling it out. tim.krieg@fargoAgile.com is my email, if that helps - thanks.

It's hard to come up with words to what was witnessed last Sunday. Just like Everson Griffen, my jaw dropped and I stood in my kitchen after my own "walk off" in utter disbelief. I had walked for 20 mins agitated and worked up over watching the game and could not watch anymore. I was confidant we would win, I just could not watch anymore. first time ever that I have walked away from watching the Vikings. Just another first in a season of firsts? It's #1 vs #2 this week in Philadelphia. The last time we visited the Eagles we were the #1 team in the NFL sitting at 5-0. The Eagles soundly defeated the Vikings and it sent the Vikings on a downward spiral. Last Sunday the Vikings ended up on the right side of history. I can list quite a few firsts for the Vikings and myself this year. There are some more firsts left... Ohh and Velspar yeah we have a race for the Beer Mug, every year it seems one person runs away with it and I have to "encourage" people to continue to play (jeopardy style question) There will be No Jeopardy this week, we're gonna play like we've played all year. Welcome to VELSPAR Week 20 NFC CHAMPIONSHIP STYLE!!
Almost forgot this. Thanks Papa for doing this all season long.
Uggh, it was just a dream, just a dream. Yeah that's me in the corner, losin my heart, once again once again. There is a bottle of champagne that will not be opened in celebration for the the Vikings getting to the Superb Owl. In a year of firsts, the final game saw a first in all three defensive category's points given up, yards allowed, touchdowns allowed, pretty much every friggin defensive category the Vikings dominated all season. what we thought couldn't happen did. It was a great 1st drive of the game.
I have to say this has been a great season of Velspar and we have a new champion and wow what a finish. The new champion won by a single point. The Beer mug is currently in production and will be shipped out soon. Thanks to everyone who played, especially those that kept playing despite being "out" of the running. we started off with 50+ players and ended up with 22. I would like to see that number get bigger and weekly prizes but at this point i'm ready to not think about football for a very long time. anyway Here is your 2017 VELSPAR CHAMPION
Congrats, Brick! Thanks Scott for putting Velspar together. It's something fun for us to do. I still think you should play too.
Thank you very much Scott for your hard work and passion into the Velspar. I immensely enjoy it.
A big time congratulations, BrickVike! Welcome to the mug club, brother.
I am bumbed that my one weekly winner came as a result of the last game.
We'll keep the SKOL train going next season.
