Vikings Injury News: Patrick Peterson Left the Win in Carolina With CrampsThe Vikings' veteran cornerback has a full two weeks to get healthy for a matchup with the Cowboys on Halloween.
The Vikings had a scary injury moment during their 34-28 overtime victoryagainst the Panthers on Sunday, as veteran cornerback Patrick Peterson had to be carted off the field late in the fourth quarter. He had just come up gimpy while covering D.J. Moore on a deep shot that fell incomplete.
However, it appears the Vikings and Peterson avoided anything serious. He was listed as questionable to return to the game with cramps. Peterson didn't end up returning, with Cameron Dantzler playing the final ten snaps or so of the Panthers' game-tying drive. Carolina never possessed the ball in overtime, so there's no way to know if Peterson would've been out there.
Prior to exiting the game, Peterson was playing at a very high level. He was sticky in coverage all game, helping limit Moore to five catches for 73 yards on 13 targets. It was yet another strong performance for the veteran, who has been a huge addition to the defense in his first season in Minnesota.
With the Vikings having a bye next week, Peterson will have a full two months to prepare to take on the Cowboys and their explosive offense at home in Week 8.
In other Vikings injury news, Dalvin Cook (ankle) and Anthony Barr (knee) completed the game without aggravating anything. Cook handled 31 touches after missing two of the last three games.
"I'm not , but we got two weeks to do whatever we're about to do, so next time you see me, I'll be ready to full-go," Cook said. "I got two weeks, and that was big for us to get that win, so we can all get back to 100 percent, our whole team. We got some guys that are nicked up, that's part of the game. But those two weeks are gonna help us get on track and get healthy."
Defensive tackle Michael Pierce and tight end Ben Ellefson missed this game but could have a chance to return after the bye.

Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!
This is so far a very important signing...
Hate to say it, but CB is going to be a big priority next season. I think both P2 and Mackenzie were 1 year deals? Both are playing well too.

In a pass first league, CBs are likely a need about every year.
I am glad to hear that his injury was cramps and not a pulled hamstring. He's been our best corner this year and I was not looking forward to him missing any time. I think we saw that Dantzler is better than Breeland, but there's still a big gap between Dantzler and Peterson.

JUST not in the first round.
P2 placed on injured resereve will miss at least 3 games
Damn. This is a big blow. He’s been terrific so far this season. Does this mean we might see Dantzler and Breeland on the field together?

Ugh.

3 games or 3 weeks
Just saw that it is defined as 3 GAMES, bye week does not count.
He was listed as questionable to return to the game with cramps.
huh? From Cramps to IR in 12 hours.

Our two deepest positions are probably CB and DT, and that's where we've been hurt, so if you're looking for a positive, there ya go.
But this scares me. How was it misidentified as a cramp? Maybe because it was more painful than a run of the mill hammy? In either case, I have a feeling it might be worse than just a 3-game thing. Time to see what Dantzler, Alexander and Hand can do.
Also think Dak's injury might be worse than Dallas is letting on.

Geeeee, thanks for that mental picture.
When he got hurt I doubted it was a cramp. Typical downplaying of injuries at the time, they knew damn well it wasn't cramps.
Trading Hughes was a bad move...
I hear Rhodes might be available for cheap out of Indy. He's having a rough year as they changed-up schemes.
Wouldn't surprise me if they do add a body to the db room soon. This is about the time they traded Ngaukwe last year.

Agree on Hughes, but it sounds like they 100% traded him due to his health. He's playing well now, but that could still flair up at any time. But, yeah, sure would be nice to have him in this group right now.

I didn't like the trade either. Was it really worth getting a 6th round pick? Should have rolled the dice one more year knowing our three best corners were on short term deals. Hindsight though.
