Justin Fields named Bears permanent starter
Matt Nagy has seen the light.
Nagy reversed course on Wednesday, taking the action most everyone hoped to see (and Bears fans wanted) by naming rookie Justin Fields the team's starting quarterback moving forward.
"He's done everything to show us that he's ready for this opportunity," Nagy explained.
Fields shook off a couple of difficult outings to shine in Week 4, completing 11 of 17 passes for 209 yards and helping jumpstart a dormant Bears offense in their 24-14 win over the Detroit Lions. The performance included connecting with Darnell Mooney five times for 125 yards, as well as establishing a connection with No. 1 receiver Allen Robinson. In total, Fields put together a few highlights that included holding a safety with his head before firing a strike to Mooney for a gain of 64 yards.

Not sure what this kids ceiling is and he'll take his lumps this year...
But man, does he have athleticism and a cannon for an arm.
Bears fans are in a fun position; Exciting young qb, the hope for elite potential and a still damn good D.

Yea, I am having fun focusing on the 5 QB's drafted in the first round. I was an advocate to try and get one of them.
I will quote myself pre/post draft :) - If this wasn't the 2021 QB loaded draft Fields would have been a Top 5 pick easy.
That all said he is going to take his lumps just like all the other rookie QB's have already - I guess you can say his first start was all "lumps"
The Bears game plan worked last week against the lowly Lions. They had Fields only attempt 17 passes and they ran down the Lions throat. (reminds me of our game approach with young Teddy)
I have a sneaky feeling it will take until mid/late December for Fields to hit his stride...probably around 12/20 :) Kidding, that is the first time we play the Bears this season.
Of the 5 QB's - Mac Jones has surprised me the most. Wilson shows some big time flashes but I think I expected too much from him even knowing he plays for the Jets. Lawrence, Fields, and Lance have shown pretty much what I expected.
Lol Minny...
We've both been around long enough to know when his "break-out game" will be.
