So….What’s up with Cam and Zimmer?
So once again Zim goes with Breeland over Cam Dantzler. And once again Breeland has a not very stellar game. Cam made a couple of enigmatic tweets after the game. One saying he was “fed up” and then a second suggesting it wasn’t about football. Both were quickly deleted. Any ideas about what is going on between Cam and Zim? I’d be pissed off too if I were him. Watching Breeland continually screw up while only getting 9 snaps yesterday all on special teams? I know Zim likes his veterans but when Dantzler actually played CB last week he was a definite improvement over Breeland. Even if you don’t like the guy, the object is to win games and put the best guys on the field to do that. WTF Zim.
It's weird because Breeland sucks but Dantzler seems to be in the doghouse. His idiotic tweets didn't help him. He had also said he had been humbled because he wasn't starting. He has the ability but he seems to be a hothead. He needs to get his head out and stfu. Do the work and get the job done.
Dantzler may as well get used to it because unless Breeland gets hurt he will most likely be the starter going forward. We have all seen this before with Dozier sucking on the offensive line but never lost his starting spot. Now we are seeing it with Breeland. Its a control thing with Zimmer and he seems to like that role.
I think it started when Zimmer required back-ups (Dantzler included) to play special teams. Apparently Dantzler was pretty reluctant to play special teams and probably was just dogging it when he did. Off to the doghouse with him.

and one week of "humility" comments isn't really a lesson learned. Especially considering his tweets this week. When you are in trouble, keep your head down and your yap shut.
#Vikings coach Mike Zimmer on Cameron Dantzler's tweet after the game: "He will be talked to, yes.''

I am sure he thinks he is helping make these boys into men, but this isn't a boys club program, his job is to win football games and his defense is the weakness and CB is the weak link, he needs to be talking about putting the best players hes got in positions to help the team win more games.
All that said, Dantzler isn't nearly good enough to be running his mouth,, he is a decent little player, but his game is far from where it should be at the pro level and if he were on a roster with 3 quality CBs he is exactly where he would be...STFU Cam, learn your craft, and be ready to contribute when your number is called.
Breeland has a 30.4 grading so far this year. 30.4, like how is that even possible? I dont care one bit what Dantzler has to say on Twitter because it's probably deserving. He needs to be playing over Breeland and Zimmer is an idiot if he thinks otherwise

Pretty embarrassing indeed. Breeland is 30.4 and Peterson is 59.4 so far this year. To put that in perspective...
Green Bay - Jaire Alexander is 76.5 and Kevin King is 50.4
Detroit - Amani Oruwariye is 50.2 and Bobby Price is 63.2
Chicago - Jaylon Johnson is 77.3 and Kindle Vindor is 47.8
Looks like the entire division is off to a rough start with its corners but the Vikes clearly have the two worst starters
PFF had Breeland graded 133rd out of 133 guys this past weekend.
To my eyes, Dantzler is much better than Breeland, so I wish he was playing.
If Zimmer legitimately thinks (or knows based on practice) that Breeland is better, than sure keep running him out there. But if this is a tough love/teach him a lesson type of benching than it's time to kiss and make up and get Dantzler back out there. We need to beat Cleveland.
I don’t think it’s that complicated. They spent FA money to bring in a veteran CB
because our young CBs were struggling.
They were not going to abort that plan after 2 games. 3 weeks in a row however is the start of a
trend, so I wouldn’t have been surprised to see Dantzler get his chance this
week, but that might be off the table having run his mouth.
There is the side effect that if you upgrade Dantzler you
also have to figure out how to compensate on Special Teams.
I have not been impressed with Breeland so far. He tends to be in the right area, but can't make the play sort of like when Rhodes was going down hill. Teams also seem to be singling him out and the Vikings have not been doing a great job of giving him help over the top. I'd prefer to see Dantzler out there, but he's vague posting like Diggs and isn't doing himself any favors.

Defense plays about 50 snaps a game, specual teams about 7 to 10 total. Personally I would rather have the better corner on defense and worry about special teams later.
This is Zimmer 100%. He’s done this nonsense since he’s been coach. It drove me absolutely crazy when he’d play Andrew Sendejo over Anthony Harris. He wasted Harris’s best years playing a reckless Sendejo (who had a penchant for hurting our own guys). They weren’t even close talent and skill wise.
Zimmer plays favorites and it sucks. That’s how we see players that hardly belong in the league start for him and far superior players riding the bench. Dantzler is just another example of Zimmer’s ridiculous mentality. It hurts the team and has no business in the league. It’s about winning, period, end of story.
