Everson Griffen “desperately wants to come back to the Minnesota Vikings.”
Paul Allen on KFAN said DE Everson Griffen “desperately wants to come back to the Minnesota #Vikings.”

Griffen texted Allen that he “bleeped up” with his tweets regarding Cousins and that it was wrong.
Allen also mentioned Griffen still has people in his corner with the team
If we were to bring in a veteran DE, this makes the most sense... I just don't see it happening. If we did, we probably cut Weatherly and keep the young guys.
I don't know, I liked Griff as a former player but his best days are behind him. And he's volatile mentally. I don't see it happening.

I'd rather have Griff than Weatherly, but not sure if that bridge has been burned to the point of no return.
One episode away from being a distraction. That being said, I'd take him over Weatherly. Slide him inside on passing downs.
We'll probably never know if his tweets caused an irreparable rift...
My $ is on yes it did.
He's probably not there yet, but I wonder if he would be open to returning as an assistant coach? The young DEs could learn a lot from EG.
If he's still out there in September, this might be one of those things we keep in our back pockets through training camp in case none of our young DEs step up and take the starting position. Even then, I doubt we sign Griffen unless one of them proves he's just not ever going to be an NFL player. And we're talking about a 3rd and two 4th-round draft choices either in their 1st or 2nd season, so that seems unlikely.

I loved Griff, but between him seemingly always giving away free first downs to hard counts, and his emotional/mental issues, I will roll with the youngsters and build for the future.

Can someone refresh my memory on the Cousins tweet?
The exact quote was "Kirk Cousins is ass". Then he said to ask Zimmer if he actually wanted him or not. It wasn't pretty.
I do hope he's more stable mentally. As long as he has treatment and it's under control, then it's just life. There's no doubt I have a soft spot for Griff and if he can contribute, I'd love him back. I always loved his fire and passion. But if he is beyond the point of positively contributing and competing, then no.
First and foremost, I hope all is well with his health. I enjoyed watching him play but I don't see him coming back.

I wish he would have just stayed... him and Robison are two guys I really miss.
Honestly though, Griff has had a pretty solid career considering where he started out by getting arrested his first summer off back in cali, and then settling down for a lot of solid years of play after that, until the fateful day where he flipped shit at that hotel. I wish we could bottle his intensity and motor and put it in other players as we would have one hell of a team.
I think the guy has something left. I’m not sure I want his crazy on the team.
I think in Griffs 2nd season he played gunner on special teams. Anyone else recall that?
